Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Paul Blake of Caribbean

Paul Blake shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Paul, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? Are you walking a path—or wandering?
Right now, I am walking the path into full-time marriage counselling in partnership with my wife Racquel. We have completed our first book together, titled “It’s Not Rocket Science: Simplifying the Complexities of Marriage”. As a Christian and marriage counsellor, I believe God has called us in this time to help couples grow their relationship to experience in roles as husbands and wives.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Paul Anthoney Blake — Minister, Abundant Life Coach, Motivational Speaker, and Author of five inspiring books, four of which have been nominated for awards. I’m also the founder of Words Worthit Motivational Speaking and Training Co. Ltd. and Words Worthit Publishers, where we empower individuals and organizations through words that transform thinking and inspire purpose.

Coming from a background marked by dysfunction, I’ve made it my mission to help others discover meaning, healing, and direction in their own lives. My work, whether through my books like Shepherding the Flock or my upcoming Level Up Your Marriage podcast with my wife Racquel, centres on building strong families, purposeful leadership, and compassionate communities.

What makes my brand unique is its authenticity; every message I share comes from lived experience, rooted in faith, and guided by a desire to help others live abundantly. Right now, I’m working on projects that strengthen marriages, empower leaders, and encourage believers to become the best versions of themselves in Christ.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
When I was a child, I believed that my background defined my destiny and limited me. I thought broken beginnings meant broken outcomes.

But as I grew in faith and purpose, I learned that where you start doesn’t determine where you end up. God has shown me that your past can become the very platform He uses to transform lives. Today, I no longer see my story as something to escape, but as something to use: to encourage others, to speak life, and to remind people that healing and purpose are possible for everyone.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that held me back the most was the fear of not being enough. Growing up, I often questioned whether I was smart enough, gifted enough, or worthy enough to make a real difference. That fear made me play small, doubt my calling, and hesitate to step fully into opportunities God was placing before me.

But over time, I learned that fear thrives where faith is absent. Once I began to see myself the way God sees me, not through the lens of insecurity but through His purpose, everything changed. I realized that it’s not about being “enough” in my own strength, but about trusting the One who makes me enough.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would probably say that what really matters to me is people helping them grow, heal, and live with purpose. They know I’m passionate about seeing others discover their God-given potential, strengthen their families, and walk in faith despite life’s challenges.

They’d also tell you I care deeply about authenticity. I believe in being real, in ministry, in marriage, in leadership, and in everyday life. Whether I’m writing, teaching, or simply listening, what matters most to me is making a positive, lasting difference in someone’s life.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I had only ten years left, I would stop trying to please everyone. I’d stop wasting energy on things that don’t align with my purpose or bring lasting value.

I’d focus even more on what truly matters: loving my family deeply, strengthening people’s faith, and helping others discover their God-given potential. I’d spend my time building what lasts beyond me: relationships, impact, and a legacy that points people back to God.

Life is too short to be distracted by what doesn’t matter. I’d make every moment count.
