Justin Kerbo of Clearwater on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Justin Kerbo and have shared our conversation below.

Justin, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
What I’m being called to do now is stop playing small.

In the beginning I kept underpricing myself, trying to be the “affordable” option because I thought it would bring in more clients. All it really did was keep me working with people who didn’t fully value what I do.

Recently, I’ve been more intentional about my pricing and boundaries. The main goal is to collaborate with clients who are invested in long-term results and truly value innovative solutions. It’s an exciting shift that’s pushing Devbo to new heights.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Justin Kerbo, founder of Devbo, a Web Design & AI-Driven Solutions company based in Clearwater, Florida. I started Devbo after seeing too many business owners spend a fortune on websites that look outdated, function terribly, and bring in minimal results.

Every project we take on at Devbo is an extension of our clients business as well as our own. Over time, our work has evolved from simple web design to helping businesses integrate AI tools, SEO, and marketing automation so they can scale without burning out.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Early on, a lot of people saw something in me before I truly recognized it. Clients, coworkers, and other business owners would tell me how much they appreciated my problem-solving skills and how deeply I cared about getting results.

Honestly, I’d even get in trouble at my old job for spending too much time with a client or putting in extra effort that wasn’t part of the original job, just because I wanted to deliver a quality product.

Looking back, I realize what they noticed was my drive to get things right, even when no one else was watching. That mindset has shaped everything at Devbo.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely. And honestly, I love this question. For any entrepreneur or business owner reading this, this is the moment that defines you.

You always hear successful entrepreneurs talk about the time they thought it was all over. I used to think I was immune to that, but everyone has doubts. When everything feels stuck and you’re questioning if it’s even worth it, that’s when you’re being tested the most. That’s when you have to double down, pivot if you have to. Keep moving forward and extend your boundaries! No matter how you’re feeling.

Persistence is what separates those who talk about success from those who actually build it. Excitement wears off quickly, whether you’re struggling or things are falling into place. The people who succeed are the ones who stay driven, no matter how things are going.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
I’d say it’s this: it actually isn’t that hard. At least, not in the way most people think.

Working tirelessly at a job you can’t stand? That’s hard. But pouring that same energy into building something you truly believe in? That’s easy by comparison. When you’re passionate about what you’re creating, even the tough moments feel rewarding once you get through them.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
Having a sense of purpose is essential, regardless of how big or small. Purpose gives our lives meaning and direction, helping us overcome challenges and setbacks along the way. But I’ve also learned that purpose alone isn’t enough.

We all need people in our lives who notice your growth, celebrate your achievements, and support you along the way. Without someone there to see and appreciate your progress, reaching your goals can feel less meaningful.

For me, helping others has always been my purpose. It makes me happy seeing people start and grow businesses of their own and being able to help them on their journey is priceless to me, it feels like I’m doing exactly what I’m supposed to be doing.
