We recently had the chance to connect with Veronique Wiebe and have shared our conversation below.
Veronique, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Time is such an odd concept. We arrange it around the sunlight and then somewhere along the lines decided that pushing past the daylight hours was necessary. The hustle of a modern life, never has enough time. But Ive felt time slow and speed up on any given day but its hustle time that feels the most needy, the most uncomfortable, the most necessary and unnecessary all at once. When I lose track of time it’s when I play. I take an activity that has no hustle attached to it. No content to film, no client watching to waiting, just myself. Normally this is either meditation or breath work, or painting. Time just… stops, or doesn’t matter inside those activities. There’s nothing attached so there’s no expectation to influence my sense of time. It’s like it’s not even there.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, My name is Veronique. I could start this intro off with a lot of I AM’s . You will be taking a look at my many roles I play on a daily basis, what I’ve developed and what I’ve given a lot of time and energy to through out the years. An artist and creative at heart, I took on Fine Arts in University, graduated and took up a tattoo apprenticeship. I have tattooed as my main creative output for the last 18 years. I opened Aurora Tattoo in the Rocky Mountains of Canmore Alberta and tattoo alongside my husband and team. I strive to make my studio a welcoming, fun place to spend your time, with a professional atmosphere that values the relationships and time with our clients. I specialize in nature, psychedelic, surrealism, mostly color but also do equal black and grey tattoo work these days. I was supposed to be a sculptor and painter out of University, so I suppose I sculpt the skin and paint the images with tattoo ink, a slight combination of talents. I am currently working on an online community for creatives called The Creative Stronghold. A place online where you can bump elbows with other creatives, work on your art or craft, mingle and support each other inside a community that offers support for artists/ creatives alike. The Creative Stronghold is where artists unite to grow skills, boost wellness, build resilience, and create community with like-minded creatives. I will also be a published author in a multi author book this December in a book called Women Who Rose From Ashes, which all be available online.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My husband has helped me in ways no one else ever could. When someone chooses you over all else, and truly loves you for your ” ugly” parts there is no relationship that can trump it. My husband sees my magic underneath my anxiety, my anger, and my fears. He’s a steady rock who has patiently waited while Ive gone through some of the hardest years of my life. He accepts me when I do not accept myself.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering. What exactly is suffering? Is it a choice, or is it an emotion? The act of suffering is always entangled in victimhood. It always comes through the backdoor with your ego hand in hand. The perception of suffering is a part of you trying to keep you safe, that is all. I have waffled through many times in my life where I denied suffering its sacrifice, and there are times where I have blindly given in to the choice. I have had my heart shattered. Only to realize it was me who allowed it to be shattered in the first place. I have had my career change drastically, when others would erupt in panic and shame, I chose freedom and possibility. Ive brushed by death rather close, so close my nervous system could not decipher to suffer or to freeze in place before finding some roots and choosing to hold on for the rest of the wild ride. Suffering taught me that everything is your choice. The actions of the world or the experiences that some times happen to you may not be in your control, but you- you control wether you try to swim up stream and suffer, or you choose to float and allow the flow to gently allow you your experience where you pick your reaction.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
A long time ago I bought a book. The book I bought was because I ” thought” I was broke and needed to magically attach more money. I opened this book and couldn’t understand a dam thing. The book was called ‘ Money and the Law of Attraction”. I put it down and went to find something that actually made sense. Fast forward a couple years later, and the authors of that book ended up in my life from another avenue on Youtube, and this time it clicked, It required me to let go of all I thought was my life before my mind would understand the Law of Attraction and how I was unconsciously using it. The ideas in that book are not mine but they have shaped my life from one critical moment onwards. I use the practices still today, listen to the YouTube recordings regularly and consistently experience the outcomes that are taught by Jerry and Esther.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If immortality were real, what would you build?
If immortality was “real” – Id build an artist / creative retreat for all ages. A large, magical place that felt like Hogwarts without all the Wizarding drama. A place where people can come, relax, and exercise their artistic muscles. A art resort, for adults and children where creativity is the purpose, play is mandatory, and there are no deadlines. An all day space for early birds, daytimes, and night hawks. A great hall for celebrations and community, a garden and farm that helps support the resort. Engineering spaces, architectural rooms, painting, sculpting, crafting. The arts and creative experiences are considered too unnecessary these days- it’s about time they claim their own space rather than always benign looked at as a supporting actor to all other endeavours. Without creativity – nothing would exist.
