kittie KaBoom of Los Angeles on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with kittie KaBoom and have shared our conversation below.

Hi kittie, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: When was the last time you felt true joy?
Since having relocated from Los Angeles, CA to Bali, Indonesia joy has been a constant in my daily existence! Through the continued practice of meditation, yoga, tai chi, swimming laps in my very own pool, paying half of what my expenses were in CA; I have found an internal joy that makes surrendering to the unknown and believing in my worth and value paramount! I live in literal paradise, and though no place is perfect and Bali definitely comes with its own set of challenges-the paradigm shift has been exponential and so very rewarding.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi there,

I’m a working voice actor and Coach who spent over 20 years based in Hollywood, CA bringing all kinds of animated characters to life! You may have heard my voice on shows for Disney, Nickelodeon, Adult Swim, HBO Max, Cartoon Network, and Amazon Prime.

Along the way, I’ve also voiced national commercials, narrated podcasts and audiobooks, and performed looping, ADR, and dubbing for TV and film. Recently, I’ve had the joy of voicing recurring roles on Spidey and His Amazing Friends (Disney) and Rock, Paper, Scissors (Nickelodeon). I have created my own community on SKOOL.com for vo enthusiasts, fans, newbies and pros and it has really begun to gain traction.

Before all that, I hosted a show for BET as a MoCap and VO performer and I am still currently creating radio impressions for stations nationwide. I’m also the writer and director of my own animated short film, developed through the Pixar Co-Op program.

Lately, I’ve fallen in love with audio description work, which has deepened my passion for making storytelling more accessible to the visually impaired community.

Also in an amazing kismet moment, I was sought out by a fan of my work to work together on his YouTube series as the series lead and a stakeholder in his company R.U.N.E.

I record from my professional home studio equipped with high-end gear and Source Connect.

Thanks so much for your time and consideration — I’d love to collaborate or lend my voice to your next project!

Warmly,
kittie KaBoom

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Watching how some communities, marginalized groups of people and situations are viewed and treated by others who are in a more advantageous situation in life at an early age made me more hypervigilant about advocating for equality and the common thread of LOVE and compassion in the people places and things I surround myself with.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes! Many times, and I used to wonder what my therapist meant when she referenced that term:GIVING UP because I’ve always been a high functioning person diagnosed with depression, ADHD, an anxiety and days in bed are few in far between, BUT! Suicidal Ideations are real and have been a part of my reality since I made my first attempt at 13 yrs old.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
My higher power, my source and my salvation, my resurrected, reining redeemer, Jesus Christ!

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. How do you know when you’re out of your depth?
When fear and indecision begins to overcome my faith. When that happens, I dig deeper, I pray harder, I meditate more, I move my body, I eat healthier, I choose happiness and peace and rest over overthinking and a chaotic monkey mind!
