Ashleigh Thompson’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Ashleigh Thompson . Check out our conversation below.

Ashleigh , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
Many people think Crazy Plant Lovee is just about selling plants, but it’s so much more than that. What we really do is help people build confidence and joy through plant care. We’re not just providing greenery, we’re cultivating a lifestyle of connection, mindfulness, and creativity.

Another common misconception is that you have to be a “plant expert” to enjoy our products or workshops. In reality, we’re here to make plant care approachable, fun, and forgiving, no matter your experience level. We believe everyone can grow literally and figuratively, with the right support and inspiration!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Ashleigh, the founder and plant enthusiast behind Crazy Plant Lovee, a brand born from my deep love for plants and the joy they bring into our everyday spaces. What started as a personal hobby quickly grew into a thriving community of plant lovers who share a passion for growth, creativity, and connection.

At Crazy Plant Lovee, we believe plants are more than just décor, they’re living reminders to slow down, nurture ourselves, and find beauty in growth. Through our shop locations, workshops, and online content, we aim to make plant care approachable, fun, and rewarding for everyone, from first-time plant parents to seasoned collectors.

What makes Crazy Plant Lovee special is our focus on education, inspiration, and community. We’re here to help people feel confident in their plant journey, with a little humor, a lot of heart, and a touch of jungle magic!

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My grandfather taught me the most about work. He always believed in me and pushed me to do my best. He even signed me up for a young entrepreneur camp before 7th grade, an experience I’ll never forget. Everything I do now is about making him proud and honoring the work ethic he instilled in me.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell her, “Keep chasing what makes you curious and never lose that spark. All the lessons, even the hard ones, are helping you grow into exactly who you’re meant to be.”

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
For me, it comes down to intention and longevity. Fads tend to come and go quickly, they’re exciting in the moment but don’t usually create lasting impact. Foundational shifts, on the other hand, are rooted in genuine connection and purpose. You can feel when something is creating real change because it continues to resonate long after the trend has faded.

In the plant world, for example, I’ve seen trends come and go, rare plants, specific styles, “must-have” items, but what stays constant is people’s growing desire to connect with nature, slow down, and nurture something living. That’s the foundation Crazy Plant Lovee is built on, not what’s trendy, but what’s meaningful and lasting.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow, I think my customers would miss the community and encouragement that Crazy Plant Lovee brings. Sure, the plants are lovely, but what really sets us apart is helping people feel confident, inspired, and supported in their plant journey, making plant care approachable and joyful, even for beginners. I hope they’d miss the little moments of connection, guidance, and positivity that make growing with us feel like more than just buying a plant.
