Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Sebastián Chicchón

Sebastián Chicchón shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Sebastián, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I usually wake up early to share breakfast with my partner, who leaves at dawn to work in a boulangerie. After that peaceful start to the day, I try to fit in some exercise or spend a few minutes reading before turning on my computer to answer emails and continue with the design projects I’m working on.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Sebastián Chicchón, a graphic designer working across the music and film industries. I was born and raised in Lima, Peru, where my fascination with images and stories first took root. Although design remains at the center of my work, I’m constantly drawn to other forms of expression such as photography, creative direction, and, more recently, writing. I see each discipline as a different way of exploring the same question: how to translate emotion into form. Now based in Paris, I continue to search for that dialogue between image and language that gives shape to both art and life.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
My parents and grandparents taught me the value of work. They never had to say much, I just grew up watching their dedication, their patience, and the persistence they took in doing things well. That’s how I learned that hard work, when done with care, always leads somewhere meaningful.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of what others might think of me (the fear of being criticized) used to hold me back. Luckily, I’ve learned to overcome it little by little by following my own voice and surrounding myself with people who value me for who I am.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
On the ideas of my brother !

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
When I feel that the decisions I’m making align with my values, my dreams, and the truest version of myself.
