Story & Lesson Highlights with Lenny Lavergne of San Juan Puerto Rico

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Lenny Lavergne . Check out our conversation below.

Lenny , really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
When I’m in the studio, time stops existing. The hours blur together, and I slip into a zone where creation feels effortless — like the music is flowing through me, not from me. I could live in that space for days.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Lenny Lavergne — also known as DUBWORK. I’m a hip hop artist, creative entrepreneur, and certified breathwork practitioner based in Puerto Rico. My work lives at the intersection of art and healing — I make music that moves people emotionally, and I guide breathwork experiences that help people release and reconnect with themselves.

What makes my journey unique is how I’ve merged two worlds that usually never meet: the intensity of hip hop and the stillness of breathwork. My latest album Feel Away was released exclusively through the EVEN platform, so fans can support me directly — no middlemen, just pure connection. Beyond music, I host retreats and sessions that bring people together through breath, movement, and presence.

Right now, I’m focused on building community — bridging creative expression, healing, and entrepreneurship in ways that remind people they can live with purpose and integrity, and still move with rhythm.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful was performing the violin at Juilliard Performing Arts School and acting in school plays. Even though I was a shy kid, something came alive in me the moment I stepped on stage. It was like all the nerves disappeared and I finally felt at home — fully myself, fully alive.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell him, “You’re built for this. Every challenge is shaping you into who you’re meant to be. Don’t shrink yourself — your voice, your art, your energy will impact more people than you can imagine.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m committed to creating timeless music — art that outlives trends and speaks to people’s souls. Beyond that, I’m deeply committed to building community. Whether it’s through music, breathwork, or retreats, I want to create spaces where people can feel seen, inspired, and connected. That’s a lifelong mission for me.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I’ve learned that social currency is often more valuable than financial currency. Who you are, how you treat people, and the trust you build will open doors that money can’t.
