Story & Lesson Highlights with Nick Flook of Toronto

We recently had the chance to connect with Nick Flook and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Nick, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
I wake up, check my IG messages from fans and try to respond to as many as possible. I grab a big ol’ coffee and get right to painting all the images I have constantly lined up in my mind !! While I wait for paint to dry I usually walk around the farm looking for things to do or fix 🙂 by afternoon, if I have any orders to ship I’ll usually take care of that and while I’m at it, I’ll check on other shipments to make sure they’re getting to where they need to go 🙂 I then get back to painting – usually deep into the night.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Welcome to my world of original art. I’m Flooko, a globally recognized artist with over 160,000 loyal followers on Instagram and a career spanning for decades. I’ve created and sold over a thousand original paintings to collectors across the globe, and my work has been featured in hundreds of publications for its distinct voice and emotional resonance. Every piece I offer here is a one of a kind original, crafted with intention, experience, and a relentless passion for storytelling through paint. My art reflects a lifetime of dedication to the craft and a deep connection with audiences who seek something raw, honest, and unforgettable. My Astronaut and gang’s adventures have become a staple in many peoples days 🙂

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
A total dreamer. Always lost in thought and inspiration. I refuse to let the world tell me who to be. To this day.. 39 years into my life, Im still doing my artistic thing whether its deemed a success or failure by society, it doesn’t matter to me. This is something that burns deep inside me, a sign of a true artist Id say. Even if the fame and money dried up tomorrow, Id still be here creating tirelessly for my own satisfaction.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
If you’re not failing, you’re not trying. Nobody is amazing at anything right away. You must fail countless times to fully understand how something works. Its all part of the process. There are no shortcuts to becoming incredible at something. I wish more young people would understand this and not give up so easily if something doesnt immediately go their way.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
I would say yes. I’m very transparent, especially as an artist. My thoughts and feelings are put out there in art form on a regular basis. Some are sad, some are happy, its all part of the roller coaster of life. I feel its important to be real with your audience. We’re fed so much manufactured b.s on a regular basis that I feel its important to be REAL.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would definitely work on my procrastination. Things I know that will be difficult I tend to put off rather than diving in head first, which is what I should be doing. I always say the hardest part of any project is getting started. I have so many things left Id like to accomplish I know Id have to really step my “already productive life” up a notch
