We recently had the chance to connect with Katie Grimes and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Katie, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Visualize future life and gratitude for what life is like today. Hot water, lemon and apple cidar vinegar, take supplements and meds, eat breakfast, check email and voice memos from coaching clients before heading to the gym, beach or going for a walk.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Katie Grimes is a Business Coach, Speaker, Podcast Host, and entrepreneur for business owners who love what they do and want to spend more time enjoying their time off, but who feel like no matter how much they do, it never feels like enough.
I’m a big believer that what’s going on in your personal life affects your business and vice versa, which may mean that your brain never shuts off or you wake up feeling behind, causing you to feel overwhelmed by how much you have to do.
This was my story as I was in Corporate America for 20 years and carried that same work ethic as I was building my international podcast and relationship coaching business, Anything for Love, that went on to gross $550K – until a $90K mistake (that was easily avoidable) almost bankrupted me in 2024.
Whether you want to take a day off without feeling guilty (and be fully present) or build routines you can actually stick to and organize the back-end of the business so you can have more time to do what you love in and out of your business, I can help!
Through my coaching, speaking events, podcast and social media I’ve helped over 100,000 people learn how to be happier and healthier, ask for what they need (without feeling like a burden), and take time off (and still make money – without thinking about work).
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My dance teacher, Kathy Reed was someone who saw me clearly before I saw myself. She saw my love for dancing, specifically ballet. She saw that I would be criticized for my height (5’3) but to keep dancing anyways. She also saw that my poor eating habits (McDonald’s before class) would get in the way of me achieving my dreams of dancing professionally.
She always knew I had something special…great energy and a great smile and that would take me as far as I was willing to work because ultimately, the time I spent stretching, taking extra classes, learning to cook healthy meals and eat them before and after dance class would make or break my dreams of dancing professionally.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that has held me back the most (that I didn’t even I had until recently) was the fear of being TOO much. Was my response “too much” and that’s why the person didn’t respond? Was my sleeping with extra pillows too much because I want to be really comfortable when I sleep. You name it, I questioned if I was too much.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That you have to work hard to get what you want. I believe it’s about working smarter, like what software systems can you use to give yourself more time to do the things you love to do in and out of your business. Can you have clients fill out an application on Jotform, Google form or Dubsado before they inquire to work with you? Can you set up an automated response so when people email you they are direct links to take the next step without having you have to send them a response ASAP?
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
How much I care about them and care about their success. I want them to be able to have enough money to spend more time with their family or doing what they love, to be able to make more than enough money to not have to work all the time or even think about work all the time.
