Hi Lorna, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
During Covid I became a cold water lake swimmer and I’ve continued on at least a weekly basis. I love watching the seasons change at the lake, the leaves, the different birds, the quietness…

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
This month -October- I am celebrating 25 years of my business, Bodacious Lifestyles Boutique. I provide fabulous curvy & plus-size fashions for women who are bold & audacious, love quality and want options to create their own style. I’ve recently moved my boutique to the beautiful seaside town of Sidney BC Canada. I also provide all the fashions on my website.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My grade 11 English & Drama teacher. He was an odd addition to our conservative high school who believed in challenging authority and to stand up for our beliefs. He saw in me someone who was strong but led quietly by example. No one had ever seen me in such a way before and it had a lifelong impact.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You are absolutely perfect in your uniqueness. You don’t need to fit in to be valuable and loved.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That plus-size and curvy women don’t deserve fun, fashionable & quality fashions. That larger women should always strive to look smaller and take up less space.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I believe they would miss my warm greeting when they walk in my door and the comfortable, comforting and safe space that I’ve created.
