Story & Lesson Highlights with Ciera Solomon-Mouzon

Ciera Solomon-Mouzon shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Ciera, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Becoming a mother to my beautiful daughter over eleven years ago was the greatest gift I could have ever asked for. As she grows, that feeling of love and devotion only deepens. Nothing in this world is more important to me than she is; everything I do is for her. Providing for her and ensuring she has every advantage and opportunity is my driving motivation. Her wonderful qualities—being loving, caring, intelligent, and sweet—only make my dedication even stronger.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
As the CEO and Founder of Royalties Of Essence, it is a pleasure to personally manufacture and sell our products, which began right in my own kitchen.

To ensure the efficacy and safety of our formulas and to establish a professional business foundation, I diligently sought advice from cosmetic experts, reviewed FDA guidelines, and utilized entrepreneurial programs, tutorials, and insights from other industry leaders.

I am proud to share that our product line now features nine amazing products designed for comprehensive hair and beard care: shampoo, conditioner, hairstyling gel, hairstyling cream, beard oil, and two distinct hair and scalp oils. Our Scalp Oil and Beard Oil are available in 2oz and 4oz sizes. We also offer satin adjustable bonnets as a key hair accessory.

All of our wonderful products are sourced and formulated with nature in mind. They are specifically designed to cater to the ethnic community—serving coily, curly, and kinky hair—by promoting hair health, strength, growth, and hydration.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
My most formative lessons about work came directly from my father. From the earliest days I can remember, he has always embodied a tireless work ethic. He has consistently gone above and beyond to care for his family, fulfilling many critical roles both in the workforce and as a parent.

As a “Daddy’s girl,” I have always looked up to him as a remarkable father, provider, and now, a wonderful grandfather. His influence was directly instrumental in helping me secure my current place of employment with the government, where I have been professionally employed for over 19 years, straight out of high school.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could speak to my younger self, my message would be one of unwavering self-assurance. I would urge myself to maintain perspective and disregard the opinions of others.

Cultivate confidence regardless of how daunting circumstances may appear, and always advocate for yourself; never tolerate being undermined. Furthermore, strive to be non-judgmental, ensuring your actions and words do not project condemnation onto others simply because their choices differ from your own.

Finally, remain focused on what truly matters, keep your ambitions high, and actively pursue your most important goals.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
A core personal value I protect above all else is my commitment to my immediate family members. They represent my foundational support system and are an essential priority in my life. The bond I share with my mother, father, and daughter is one of unwavering mutual support and protection.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
My greatest sense of peace is found in my daughter’s presence. There is a genuine purity in her love that never wavers. That feeling—of being loved so dearly, of knowing someone anticipates our time together—is profoundly precious. I never have to second-guess her affection and love; it is evident in every moment. Sharing our special time at home only enhances that tranquility. Our house itself is a pillar of my peace: a calm, quiet, loving, and spiritually grounded sanctuary for my daughter and me.
