We’re looking forward to introducing you to Joseph Barra III. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Joseph, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first thing I do when I get up is pray. Immediately thank God for another day, then Ill read a couple of chapters from the bible. Ill journal, learn my Italian on Babble, do my first workout of the day which usually consists of a 2 to 4 mile run, then shower and get ready for the day
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Joseph Barra and I am the North East Territory Manager for Allmax Supplements, an Actor, and a public speaker. Allmax is one of the best supplement companies around. Being into fitness most of my life I already knew of Allmax and was so blessed when the opportunity presented itself to work for them. Being a Canadian company, Allmax adheres to health Canada, making their supplements some of the cleanest you’ll find and using their products exclusively for 2 years, I can attest to their worth. Being an actor as well, I just wrapped my second feature film, Angles Night out in Michigan. I filmed the movie Solder for Christmas back in 2023 and its now available to stream on Up Faith and Family. After Angles Night I have 2 films booked for next year and am very excited to see what opportunities are ahead. I am a public speaker as well, speaking most recently for Samsung this summer at their pop up in NYC highlighting the new Z fold and Z flip 7. I also do the announcements most Sundays at my church, Fusion Church in Fishkill.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with Jesus Christ. Before I was a Christian, I only saw living for me, myself and I. I liked helping people and volunteering, but I did it for selfish gain and pride. My career choice was for selfish gain and I really didn’t see anything after death. But, once I became a Christian and started to apply those Christ-like principals in my life It changed everything for the better. Now it fuels everything I do in life.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes. In film and acting you deal with constant rejection. Being told no for years by the industry is hard enough, but when even your own family is against you, thats the hardest thing to deal with. It was July of 2023. I was jobless, still dealing with the loss of my Nonna, finally recovering from a breakup, and to top it all off, this was the peak of the writing and acting strikes. I didn’t know which direction to go, I wanted to throw it all away. How you handle your struggles and valleys, will determine the person you will become. It was hard, but I still prayed. I still had faith, I still believed and trusted in God that better times were ahead. You learn so much in the valley and being where Im at now, I couldn’t be more grateful for that experience
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
My Pastor. Over the years, my church was operating out of a movie theater with barely 20 people. In under a year, the church grew and now not only do we have our own building, but we’re averaging 700 people each Sunday and we’re growing at an exponential rate. Now this can easily go to someones head and inflate their ego, but my Pastor is the same person he was preaching to 20 people. He never once called it his church, but always calls it Gods church. He sets an incredible example to follow and I couldn’t be more blessed for it
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
Yes. Yes I am. Most people do as their told and sadly never live their true purpose for their life. But not me. All the role models I looked up to took a different path and ended up living their purpose and making a positive impact. Sadly most people are afraid to do this because of the unknown. They don’t know whats going to happen and thats scary. Anyone who accomplished anything of significance took a risk and a chance. It took some time, But Im so blessed to say Im doing what I was born to do
