Jaida Pervis of Washington DC on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Jaida Pervis shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Jaida, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day are sacred. I start with meditation to quiet my mind, journaling to set clear intentions, and gratitude to center myself. With so much happening in the world, it’s important to protect your peace and energy before the day starts pulling on you. Those few moments of reflection help me show up with clarity and purpose. And of course, coffee is part of the ritual too! It’s a simple, grounding routine that allows me to pour into others from a full cup.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a Certified Matchmaker and the founder of Flirting with Forever, a boutique matchmaking and dating strategy firm headquartered in the DC area but serving incredible clients nationwide. My story is rooted in a deep passion for connection, the kind that changes lives.

My day-to-day keeps me busy, but it’s all for love — literally. From coaching clients through first-date jitters to curating matches that just feel right, I’m constantly reminded that when it comes to love, timing, mindset, and heart all matter. As someone who has personally navigated love, loss, and starting over, I know firsthand how transformative it can be to have the right partner by your side. That experience fuels everything I do, helping others write their own love stories with clarity, confidence, and hope. In a nutshell, I love what I do. My mission is simple but powerful: to remind people that love isn’t just possible, it’s possible for you.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
That’s such a powerful question. As a young mother, I never imagined I could one day be the founder of a thriving business, let alone a business rooted in something I deeply love and believe in. Back then, many people assumed my story would become a statistic, but I’ve always had an unshakable love for love itself. To now be able to channel that passion into matchmaking and helping others find lasting connections feels like a dream I couldn’t have pictured as a child.

What I no longer believe is that my circumstances would define my ceiling. Today, I know with absolute certainty that anything and everything is possible when you lean into purpose, passion, and perseverance. The sky isn’t just the limit, it’s the starting point.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, absolutely. I’d be lying if I said there weren’t moments I almost gave up. Entrepreneurship is beautiful, but it’s also scary and uncomfortable at times. Every day you’re stepping into the unknown, you don’t have a roadmap, you don’t always know what the future holds, and yet you keep showing up.

Even with over a decade of experience in the industry, everything shifted once I was the one fully at the wheel. The responsibility, the risk, the weight of building something from scratch, it’s a lot. Fear and doubt have definitely whispered to me, more than once, to just quit. But here’s the truth: every time I’ve leaned into the discomfort instead of running from it, I’ve grown. I’ve learned that fear doesn’t mean stop, it means you’re stepping into something bigger than yourself. And for me, that something bigger is helping people find lasting love. That mission keeps me grounded, keeps me hungry, and keeps me moving forward.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Oh, that one’s easy, my family. My two incredible sons are my world, and honestly, I have the most amazing family anyone could ask for. They are my backbone, my joy, and my safe place. I can call any one of them, whether it’s my brother, my mother, or my aunts, I know I’ll be met with love, support, laughter, and sometimes a good cry.

What matters most to me is that foundation of unconditional love. My family keeps me grounded, celebrates me, challenges me, and makes me laugh until my stomach hurts. They’re the reason I can pour so much into my work as a matchmaker, because I’ve experienced firsthand what it means to be surrounded by love.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I loved deeply and unapologetically, that I never stopped believing in love, even when life gave me reasons to doubt it. That I carried that belief into my work, helping others open their hearts and find the kind of connection that transforms lives. But I also hope they say I lived boldly. That I wasn’t afraid to take risks, to start over, to build something from scratch, and turn it into a legacy.

At the end of the day, I want my story to be remembered as one of love, courage, and possibility. And, that I inspired others to believe that no matter where you start, you can create the life and the love you dream of.
