Story & Lesson Highlights with Tia Fritz-Calhoun of Los Angeles

Tia Fritz-Calhoun shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Tia, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Intelligence. Education is something that no one can take away from you.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello! I’m Tia Fritz-Calhoun, and I’m thrilled to introduce myself. I’m the co-founder of Trip Sales Inc., which is a multi-line wholesale apparel showroom nestled in the fabulous Cooper Design Space in the heart of the LA Fashion District. We are the essential link between incredible, often sustainable and quality-made, women’s apparel brands and the boutiques that carry them. My passion by day is curating collections that truly ignite a fire in a woman’s wardrobe.

My Story: Fashion, Music, and Joy
I like to bring people joy by giving them something wonderful to look forward to. Whether I’m on the clock at Trip Sales Inc. or when I moonlight as a DJ after hours, my goal is the same: to create elevated experiences.

Clothing and music are my two biggest creative outlets; they put a smile on my face, and I love to share that infectious joy with everyone around me. It’s all about helping people feel alive, elated, and ready to conquer the world, one killer outfit or dance floor beat at a time!

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Bonds are broken by a failure of caring and safety. The main causes are contempt (disrespect), withdrawal (emotional absence), betrayal of trust, and the build-up of unresolved conflict.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I wish I could tell my younger self to be less afraid and take more risks. Please stop caring what others think. Trust your intuition and cherish the moment at hand.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
To make every garment truly sustainable!

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop worrying and start surrendering more!
