Story & Lesson Highlights with Reine Turlington of Tricities

Reine Turlington shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Reine , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I am a wanderer—always curious, never lost. The unknown keeps life exciting, and as an artist, I thrive on that beautiful uncertainty.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Floreine Turlington, founder of ReineCrafts — a creative studio where imagination meets intricate craftsmanship. My work is rooted in storytelling through beads, fabric, and texture — each piece a tiny world of color and emotion.

This year, I’m returning to my roots with a new collection called Creatures of the Seas — a series of seed-beaded brooches and eccentric necklaces inspired by marine life. It’s whimsical, detailed, and full of character — a celebration of movement, mystery, and the beauty that thrives beneath the waves.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My grandmother taught me the most about work. She was a midwife, and every day I saw her dedication and quiet confidence. She defined her own way of doing things — never boxed in, never afraid to venture beyond what was expected. That spirit stayed with me.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me that everything — even pain — is temporary. You have to face it, weather it, and rise above it. It humbles you, keeps you grounded, and reminds you where real strength comes from.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The industry often pretends that beauty lives on the surface — polished, filtered, and flawless. That’s the biggest lie. True beauty has depth; it breathes. It’s born from process, patience, and imperfection. Art isn’t fast or fabricated — it’s raw, deliberate, and unapologetically human.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope they say I was a happy, colorful soul — someone who lived fully and created freely. That I followed my heart, did what I loved, and left a bit of brightness behind.
