We recently had the chance to connect with Erene and have shared our conversation below.
Erene, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What battle are you avoiding?
I’m avoiding getting my car deep cleaned. To the naked eye it might look spotless, but because I’m always driving long distances, I’m always eating in my car. And I can bet you there’s a fry and a paper straw wrapper stuck somewhere in a crevice that the free gas station vacuums can’t reach.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Erene. Full name Erene Olson. I’m an artist. I’ve been singing since I was 2 and made the decision to take music seriously at the ripe age of 4. I saw that Brittany Spears was getting paid to do it and thought “This is for me”. Ever since, I’ve been honing my craft through making music, performing any and everywhere, and even working on choreo for things like my upcoming music video for my new song Wait For It. The music video comes out on Nov. 8th and I’m so excited to share as I got up at 2am, filmed ALLL around NYC, and finished at 10pm for this work of art. But no need to wait for the video (see what I did there) the song is out now and available on all streaming platforms.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
My parents taught me the most about work. My mom taught me to be a straight talker and ask every question you need to in order to do something comfortably. And my dad who’s an entrepreneur taught me how to work 24/7 while still being present for my family, friends, church and community.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d say to little Erene that the certainty that you have in yourself and your dreams is never something to second guess. I’d also tell her that no one else around her is on the same path so don’t feel bad if your life looks different than everyone else’s.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Well here are some direct quotes from close friends “Honesty, Faith, Music” “Everything you do, respect, and God” “Faith and God” “God” I’m sensing a theme lol.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
The type of things I say yes to. There’s many instances where I get asked to be apart of something I have to say no to because of my belief in Jesus Christ that shows me it’s not a good idea. With that, I’m building an atmosphere and space that’s niche right now but can be the norm years later.
