Anastasiya Tkachenko of Long Island on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Anastasiya Tkachenko shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Anastasiya, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Yes! I felt very proud recently when I sent over the final version of a Brand Voice Guide to my client, and her response to it was, “This is so great, this made me cry.” I mean, what a response! I was so pleasantly surprised and happy to know that my work had such a positive response.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello there! My name is Anastasiya, and I’m a Premium Ghostwriter. If you’re thinking that sounds very sexy and suspicious, then you’re (partially) correct. The work I do is actually very widespread, and every business owner needs a ghostwriter. And yet, to this day, a large percentage of people I talk to about ghostwriting assume it’s like being a spy, and every client I work with requires super-secrecy and an NDA. Which, again, is only partially true.

Essentially, I like to describe myself as a business owner who solves problems with words.

But what I think is most unique about the work that I do is actually the way that I started. Most digital marketers come from a marketing background. My background is in humanitarian work and non-profits. I spent 10+ years working in various organizations and non-profits across Colorado, and earned a dual bachelor’s degree in International Studies and Political Science, with an emphasis in Peace, Human Rights, and Security.

So, in my own words, I actually look at myself more like a Cultural Anthropologist than anything else. At the end of the day, the writing portion of my work is only 10% of my time, which, to me, is very exciting.

Like being an actor, I get to put on different hats with each client, and I get to dive into their world and become part of it.

I’m excited to tell you more about it.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I love this question because it also breaks my heart.

What I believed about myself as a child that I absolutely no longer believe is that I was always wrong.

Throughout my entire childhood and young adult years, people would always make me feel like I was wrong. Wrong in how I think, act, and express my ideas and passions. I thought my entire existence was just a big mistake.

That was until I realized I was never “wrong”. I was just always willing to say the things that I saw, the truth of the situation, and I wasn’t afraid to name the elephant in the room. Where others would pretend like there was no elephant or would turn a blind eye, I would just say what I saw. Because that makes sense, right?

You see a problem and then you name it. Why pretend like a problem doesn’t exist when we can just handle it?

Well, only until I got much older and took a step back from everyone in my life (and nearly isolated myself for years) did I finally see that most people refuse to acknowledge problems because they’re too afraid, or unaware, of how to solve them.

But because of this lingering (and deep) fear that most people have, that makes other people who are problem-solvers and unafraid of facing vulnerability and discomfort feel absolutely insane because we’re trying to solve a problem that everyone else is trying to pretend doesn’t even exist.

Now, I understand. Now, I don’t have to hide and live miserably, confused about why I’m being constantly shut down.

I can’t stand tall, confident in myself, and willing to address problems without the fear of rejection or backlash because I know I’m not wrong, in this sense. I’m just early to address an issue that others aren’t ready or prepared to deal with yet.

And that is a superpower.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Keep going, you’re almost there.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
Repeating yourself (or your offer) will annoy people.

Nope. Actually, it’s necessary to consistently repeat what you want your dream audience to know, learn, and understand about your offer, business, brand, etc. Why is this? Because even if you post 3x/per day on each platform, that doesn’t mean that one person is going to see all of your content. That just means you’ve widened the opportunity for your dream customer to find you and learn about you.

And saying your offer once doesn’t mean that your dream customer will automatically sign up for your offer. It doesn’t even mean that they’ll see you. It’s necessary to repeat your mission, vision, promise, solutions, products, services, etc., often and on repeat so that you’re dream audience gets to know you and is reminded of what you do.

Of course, there are clever ways to do this so that we don’t bombard our dream audience and annoy them…

But if there’s one thing you need to know as a business owner, founder, or anyone who creates content/messaging for an audience, it’s that you are not annoying your dream customers by repeating yourself. You should actaully do it more.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
She made me feel better.
