Sun V. shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Sun, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Reading, without a doubt. It’s been my favorite escape and comfort since I was a kid; it’s my number one hobby and the thing that’s always felt like home to me. I’ll pick up a book just to read a few pages, and next thing I know, hours have passed and I’m completely lost in another world. But that’s also where I tend to find myself again. There’s something about getting lost in someone else’s story that helps me reconnect with my own. It’s grounding, freeing, and honestly one of the purest forms of self-care for me.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Jalyn “Sun” Vaughn, the creator and owner of Sunflower & Stone, a self-care and wellness brand built around intentional living and self-acceptance. I make handmade body care products; soaps, body butters, incense, and perfume oils that encourage people to slow down and create small moments of care for themselves every day.
What makes Sunflower & Stone special is the energy behind it. It’s not just about smelling good or having soft skin (though that’s a big part of it!) it’s about the feeling that comes with using something made with intention, by someone who truly believes you deserve to feel good in your own skin.
This past year, I’ve been focused on expanding that message beyond products; through content that blends lifestyle, wellness, and real-life moments. My goal is for people to see my brand and think, “That’s the self-care bestie I trust.” Whether I’m sharing a new soap, a scent I love, or just a reminder to slow down, it’s all rooted in helping others reconnect with themselves.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I think bonds usually break when ego, pride, or unspoken hurt get in the way. Sometimes it’s not even a big moment; it’s just distance that builds quietly when we stop being soft with each other. What restores those connections, though, is honesty, empathy, and vulnerability. It takes both people choosing to really see and hear each other again. That kind of softness can rebuild almost anything.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell her she’s already enough; she doesn’t have to keep proving her worth to anyone. I’d remind her that softness isn’t weakness, and that choosing peace doesn’t mean she’s giving up. The same parts of her that once made her feel misunderstood are the ones that make her powerful now. She just needed time to grow into her own light.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would probably say what matters most to me is peace, authenticity, and being surrounded by genuine energy. I care deeply about creating meaningful moments; whether it’s through my work, my relationships, or just small daily rituals. I’m big on love, softness, and making sure the people around me feel seen and cared for. That’s really at the heart of everything I do.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I made them feel seen, loved, and safe being themselves. That I brought warmth wherever I went; that I lived fully, loved deeply, and left people softer than I found them. I hope they say I moved through life with intention and heart, that I made ordinary moments feel special, and that I reminded people to take care of themselves and each other. That, more than anything, would mean I did what I was meant to do.
