Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Tarah Williams

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Tarah Williams. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Tarah, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day in this season of life looks like prayer, breathing, 30 minutes of motivation on YouTube. After that I light a candle and tune into some lo-fi music while making a cup of tea and going over my agenda for the day and working on a task that requires my brain to focus or is priority. The morning isn’t rushed, yet it is productive.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey yall! I am Published Author, Internet Radio, and YouTube Show Host, Tarah M. Williams. I have built a brand based on Business and Bible Basics. I focus a lot of time on Faith, Hope, Love, and Leadership. Even my books are tools to help you apply knowledge of self and to self. I started Tea Time Enterprises, LLC which is also known as Stalk Your Destiny in 2015 and I began the community gathering of Tea Time With Tarah in 2016.

I chose Stalk Your Destiny because stalkers go after things regardless of the obstacles they may face; they are relentless in pursuit of things that typically do not belong to them. In Stalk Your Destiny, I show that we need to become stalkers of what does belong to us, our destiny. That we should get to the point where we refuse to give up on ourselves. I began Tea Time With Tarah with 5 minutes, a hot cup of tea, a very quick shower. I needed to show up for me and this was the only time I had to do so. Over time I realized that “You Have A Voice & It Needs To Be Heard,” and so I created the space for myself and others to do just that.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
Wow. What a great question! In this new season of life that I have recently entered, the part of me that has served its purpose and is currently being released is the fact that I was a life coach for the last 10 years. Life changed and with it, I changed. God spoke over my life that I used to be a life coach and I caught it. It must be released because I no longer have the capacity to pull on people who won’t do for themselves. There are layers to this, however, it was time to shift. I am shifting more into the focus of being an author, speaker, and leadership coach.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
While I have never quit, I have faced many moments where I was faced with wanting to give up. It’s tough to keep going when all you do is not quite rewarded the way you hoped for. Hard to hold on to your faith when you don’t see the promises of God coming to pass in your life. But just like one of my devotionals mentions, Abraham believed even against all hope. Life has taken me through many trials and this path that I said yes to is not one that comes with butter cream and sprinkles, at least not at first. When life gets me down or the folks around me change in a negative manner, that puts a damper on movement. But as I mentioned, stalkers don’t quit. I have overcome so many things that I am now able to help others navigate life in a more positive way. I am able to show them that it is possible and it is okay to grow in the process.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
The public creates its own perception of who I am. I am myself at all times, however perspective is up to the individual. Not everyone gets to be in my personal space so not everyone has access to me. What they do have is an authentic version of who I am no matter the situation. My morals and values speak for themselves, and I walk in integrity. I hope Love is the Light of me that people see and experience, always.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I believe people will misunderstand that I was following God’s lead. Many claim to have a relationship with the Lord yet do not truly know God for themselves. Folks call it faith when they fix their own problems and then they praise God for what they did for themselves that wasn’t at His command. I have endured long-suffering while also producing fruit which is the evidence of what God directed me to do privately. When I am gone or even as I remain as a legend, people will come to find all that was created and they may not understand how I did it all. They may also not understand why I didn’t just get a job or do what they consider practical. This is a true faith walk. God has moved me to places and spaces I would have never chosen to go, yet I have. I think that in the misunderstanding people will grow in curiosity and perhaps can even refer to George Meuller’s life as evidence that I too was a living legend, used by God. I hope it causes them to grow deeper in faith and walk it out.
