Tyler Scher on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Tyler Scher and have shared our conversation below.

Tyler, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Travel. I’m fortunate that my career allows me to work from almost anywhere—and occasionally brings me to new places for events. Travel has always been an eye-opening experience for me. Immersing myself in different countries, cultures, and communities challenges the way I think and expands the way I live. Every place I visit leaves a small imprint on me, and I carry those pieces home. It shaping who I am both personally and professionally, and I think that’s something truly special.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Tyler Scher, and I’m the Founder and CEO of MediaScher, a creative marketing agency based in New Jersey. We specialize in content creation, social media management, digital strategy, and brand development for businesses that want to grow with intention and impact.

What makes us different is our approach. We don’t just create content—we partner with brands to understand their story, refine their message, and build marketing ecosystems that actually drive results. Everything we do is strategy-first, storytelling-driven, and backed by real business goals.

I started MediaScher because I saw too many businesses investing in marketing that lacked direction—posting just to post, paying for content that didn’t convert, or hiring agencies that didn’t take the time to truly understand the brand. Today, we’re proud to serve clients across multiple industries—from real estate and construction to luxury hospitality, lifestyle brands, and professional services.

Right now, we’re expanding our long-term brand partnership model, building creative campaigns, and producing high-level video content that helps businesses scale and connect more deeply with their audiences. At the end of the day, I’m passionate about helping businesses grow through creativity, and consistency—and building genuine relationships that feel more like collaboration than outsourcing. I always say, it’s not about a sale for me, I’m in the relationship business.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me I’m letting go is the version that wanted everyone to like me. I still genuinely want the best for people, and I always will, but I don’t let it hold me back when others don’t see or appreciate the effort and investment I put in. I’ve learned that no matter how compassionate or “good” you are, not everyone will like you—and that’s okay. Letting go of that need allows me to focus on what really matters and on the people who truly deserve my time, heart, and energy.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yeah, there have definitely been moments where I felt like giving up, and more than once. Not because I didn’t believe in what I was building, but because the pressure of carrying everything at once gets heavy. Running a business, leading a team, delivering for clients, trying to grow while also trying to keep my own life together—it’s a lot! I have moments where I catch myself thinking, “What am I even doing?”. I’ve learned to remind myself that no matter what it seems, no one really has it all figured out. We’re all figuring it out day by day.

Now, when I feel overwhelmed or start questioning what I’m doing, I realize it’s usually because I’m facing a new challenge. And the more often that happens, the more I recognize that I’m facing challenges not because I’m stuck, but because I’m growing.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The biggest lie my industry tells itself is that success comes from doing more, faster, and louder. The truth is, growth comes from strategy, consistency, and focusing on the right opportunities—not just chasing every trend or metric.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I understand that real success doesn’t come from quick wins or shortcuts. It comes from genuinely caring for others, building strong relationships, and consistently providing value. When you focus on serving people and helping them succeed, your own growth naturally follows.
