We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kelsey Hogan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kelsey, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
When it comes to imposter syndrome, my most significant piece of tangible advice is this: UNFOLLOW anyone and everyone online that makes you feel “less than” (aka – imposter syndrome). When it comes to being an entrepreneur, it is incredibly helpful to unfollow / not follow other people in your niche. If you’re a coach, don’t look at different coaches. If you’re a realtor, don’t follow other realtors. Oftentimes, the imposter syndrome pops up when we’re comparing ourselves to people on the same journey we’re on. When we remove this from our day-to-day, the imposter syndrome is also removed.
Of course, there is a lot we can say about confidence building and owning your own special sauce, but for me, this tangible tip is the most helpful and implementable.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m the founder of a digital marketing, mentorship and content hub for other female founders called Claimed & Co.
We have our agency, which specializes in full service social media management, content creation + editing, email marketing, social auditing and strategy development for women-owned brands. Consider us your fractional CMO (and yes, you can work with me privately in that capacity, too). It’s one of my favorite offers.
Then there’s The Legacy Society – my mentorship movement officially debuting this November.
It’s not a course or a coaching program. It’s a caliber. A home for women who lead with authenticity, not smoke and mirrors. Who are scaling real businesses and doing it with precision, power, and presence. Inside The Society, you’ll find mentorship that feels like mastery: live conversations, self-paced curriculum, and proximity to the kind of leadership that doesn’t just talk the talk, it embodies it.
If you’re looking for a space where you can rise into your highest potential as a founder without the performative fluff, this is it. Check it out → https://www.claimedandco.com/the-legacy-society
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1.) Storytelling. When it comes to marketing, you need to be able to take people on a journey with you. If you can’t paint the picture, the buyers won’t follow along.
2.) White-glove service. Treating clients with the utmost professionalism and providing elevated, white-glove service were instilled in me when I worked with hospitality brands like The Four Seasons. There is something to be said for going above and beyond, showing up like a CEO, and making sure that all clients’ needs are cared for that really sets you apart. While everyone else is doing lazy marketing, we’re still doing top-tier support. It positions you differently, above the noise, aligned with purpose. Approach everything, in business and in life, from that lens.
3. Lead as the CEO you want to become. Dreaming of 7 figures? Act like it now. Don’t show up for the job you have; show up for the position you desire. You’ll get there a lot sooner.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I LOVE collaborating with other women. Suppose you have a specific skill that could support female founders—anything from mindset work to money management. I’d love to connect to discuss hosting a guest workshop in The Legacy Society. If you’re local, we can also connect about doing in-person experiences (something I’m very into as we approach 2026!).
