We’re looking forward to introducing you to Char Newell. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Char, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day are very intentional. I dedicate that time to meditation, prayer, and affirmations, which helps me center myself mentally and spiritually before the day begins. I also go jogging, which gives me energy and clarity to approach the day with focus. It’s my way of aligning mind, body, and spirit so I can show up fully present. I’ll admit, I’m still figuring out what jogging will look like once the weather gets colder, but maintaining some form of movement will definitely remain part of my routine.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Char Newell, the Founder and Chief Corporate Life Coach of Your Healthy Reality, an organizational development firm that blends leadership coaching, HR strategy, and culture transformation to help companies build thriving, people-centered workplaces.
What makes our work unique is our coaching approach to everything we do — whether it’s leadership development, workforce training, or strategic HR. We don’t just deliver programs; we create experiences that shift how leaders show up, how teams collaborate, and how organizations grow.
My journey started in corporate HR, where I spent over 18 years navigating the complexities of leadership and culture from the inside. I eventually stepped out on faith to build Your Healthy Reality from the ground up. Seven years later, we’re partnering with organizations like Microsoft, Google, and the NYC Department of Education to drive meaningful change.
Right now, I’m focused on expanding our impact through leadership retreats, workforce development initiatives, and strategic partnerships that help organizations strengthen their people strategy while honoring their unique culture.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was a fearless girl who believed she could do anything, have anything, and be anything. I moved through the world with boldness, curiosity, and an unshakable sense of possibility. Then, somewhere along the way, the world started handing me labels, expectations, and limitations. Bit by bit, it felt like the beautiful puzzle pieces that made me uniquely me were taken away or hidden. But the beauty of my journey is that I’ve spent the past few years intentionally reclaiming those pieces — rediscovering my voice, my power, and my truth.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me depth — the kind of strength, resilience, and faith that success alone could never give. It stripped away the noise and forced me to see who I really am when everything else is uncertain. It taught me patience, compassion, and how to find beauty even in broken places. While success can build confidence, suffering built my character. It reminded me that growth often happens in the dark before it’s ever celebrated in the light.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that my peace of mind is non-negotiable. They know how much I value my alone time, because that’s where I recharge and stay grounded. They’d also tell you that transparency matters deeply to me — both in how I show up and in the people I choose to keep close. I value real, honest connections, and I thrive in spaces where authenticity isn’t just welcomed, it’s expected.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I deeply understand that our lives are already divinely planned, and our destination is already set. The real work isn’t in trying to control every outcome — it’s in how we live the dash between our birth date and our end date. I believe there are no “wrong” moves, only steps that shape the journey. The only real mistake is standing still. Trusting the walk — even when the path isn’t clear — has been one of the most profound lessons of my life. That trust is where true fulfillment lives.
