We’re looking forward to introducing you to Shanna Toft. Check out our conversation below.
Shanna, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
Would I hire me? Absolutely.
I bring professionalism, preparation, and purpose to every project. I treat this career as both an art and a business — showing up on time, ready, and fully present. My background in marketing and production has given me a strong understanding of how to represent a brand, tell a story, and deliver results — whether I’m in front of the camera or behind the scenes.
I’d hire me because I approach every opportunity with respect for the work and the people involved. I believe in consistency, adaptability, and high standards — and I hold myself to them. I’m the kind of professional who makes collaboration easier, not harder, and who keeps the focus on what matters most: excellent storytelling and authentic connection.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m an actor and producer based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. I own and operate Shanna Toft Entertainment LLC, a production company I founded to create, brand, and distribute professional-level scenes, reels, and short films that showcase authentic human connection and emotional truth. My work blends artistry with strategy — I approach every project not only as a performer but also as a storyteller and marketer with a deep understanding of how film and television connect to audiences.
I’m currently represented by Heyman Talent Agency and continuing to expand my portfolio across regional markets. My focus is on building work that resonates — grounded, cinematic storytelling that reflects both strength and vulnerability.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was a deeply curious kid who loved stories — not just reading or watching them, but inhabiting them. I was observant, imaginative, and bold enough to dream without limitations. Somewhere along the way, I was told to be practical, to choose stability over creativity — but that never truly fit.
When I finally returned to acting as an adult, it felt like coming home to the person I’d always been. That younger version of me — the one who believed in empathy, truth, and storytelling — was still there, waiting patiently. Now, I live and work as her every day, fully aligned with who I was always meant to be.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me patience — not just with life, but with myself. It showed me that strength isn’t about how loudly you push through; it’s about how quietly you keep going when no one’s watching. Success can celebrate you, but struggle refines you.
Through the hardest seasons, I learned to listen — to people, to stillness, and to my own intuition. That’s the same quality I bring into my acting: presence. Suffering taught me to live truthfully, and that truth shows up in the work every single time.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes — the public version of me is the real me, just more curated. What you see is genuine, but it’s also intentional. I believe authenticity doesn’t mean sharing everything; it means being truthful in what you choose to share.
In this industry, people connect to honesty — not perfection. The same person who’s calm, focused, and emotionally present on camera is the same person you’d meet off set. I simply bring different shades of myself forward depending on the story, the moment, and the purpose. But it’s all me.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope the story people tell about me is that I led with heart and left things better than I found them — whether that was a scene, a set, or someone’s day. That I worked hard, lifted others along the way, and never stopped creating with purpose.
I’d love to be remembered as someone who turned challenges into art and connection, someone who made people feel something real. And if my journey reminds even one person that it’s never too late to step fully into who you are, then that’s a legacy I’m proud to leave behind.
