Hi Kacie, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day start with coffee, the first thing I do is always make a coffee. I like to check my emails first thing when I wake up, however I don’t respond to them until our office hours start. I then work on social media posts for the day to get them out of the way, followed by packing my son’s lunch & taking him to school.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I own Chasing Seahorses Travel. I opened my own independent, boutique, travel agency in June 2025 but have been a travel advisor since 2017. In May of 2025 I just had become too busy to give my clients the attention they needed and decided it was time to open my own agency so Chasing Seahorses was born. We now have 9 travel advisors with us and book for clients trips all over the world, destination Weddings, cruises, honeymoon, group trips anywhere you would like to go.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I always wanted to be a teacher, my whole life I knew that I was gonna be a teacher. However life had other plans. I went to college for elementary education and realized in student teaching. I actually preferred preschool.. I was an infant/toddler for 12 years, and loved it. But I always loved travel and in 2016 when I went to Cancun and used a travel agent I just knew this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. So I retired from teaching in 2017.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There has been many times I have thought about giving up. Working with the public is not easy, it doesn’t matter how hard you work for them some people you just can’t make happy. Travel is a commission based job, and you only get paid after a client travels, so when I client cancels a trip, travel advisor do not get paid and now we are working for free. Some clients you never hear from after there trip but a Thank You would be amazing after clients return but we unfortunately never get a Thank you.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That travel advisor travel for free. We do not travel for free and put out thousands to tour resorts, make connections with hotels and suppliers. This comes out of our commission/pay. We are putting out thousands of dollars each paycheck that we never see again just to be able to give our clients a better experience.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I lived an amazing life. As a mother of a 6 year old with autism. We don’t let that stop us. We still travel regularly, we experience new things, and we live an amazing life and we don’t let a disability stop us.
