We’re looking forward to introducing you to Samantha Sumpter. Check out our conversation below.
Samantha, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Adopting a new dog has brought me a renewed sense of joy and comfort after the loss of my previous one. It’s been healing to open my heart again and welcome new love into my life.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a content creator, wellness coach, and yoga teacher in training with a deep passion for helping others feel empowered in both body and spirit. My brand blends fitness, mindfulness, and personal growth, rooted in the belief that true transformation happens when we lead ourselves with grace and consistency.
Through my motivational content and wellness resources, I aim to inspire people to build a healthy relationship with food, movement, wellness — one mindful habit at a time. What makes my approach unique is the mix of discipline and grace I bring to everything I do.
Right now, I’m continuing my yoga teacher training and expanding my wellness brand to reach more people who are ready to reconnect with themselves, find balance, and live with purpose — all while having a little fun along the way.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that profoundly shaped how I see the world was the passing of my grandmother in May 2024. Losing her reminded me of the depth of love, legacy, and wisdom that lives within family. It shifted my perspective on time and presence — teaching me to slow down, cherish every moment, and live with more intention.
Her passing also deepened my spiritual journey, reminding me that healing and connection extend beyond the physical. It inspired me to honor her through the way I live — with grace, compassion, and purpose — carrying her light forward in everything I do.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
I’ve dealt with the wounds of life by choosing healing over hiding. Through therapy, I’ve learned to face my pain with honesty and compassion, to understand my patterns, and to grow through self-awareness rather than self-judgment. I’ve also leaned deeply into my tribe — the people who remind me that I don’t have to carry everything alone.
When life feels heavy, they help me laugh, breathe, and find perspective again. I’ve realized that vulnerability is not weakness but strength. Every challenge has taught me to extend myself grace, trust the process, and remember that healing isn’t about being perfect; it’s about returning to myself, over and over, with love.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The biggest lie the fitness industry tells us is that trainers and coaches have to look a certain way to be credible or inspiring. For too long, we’ve been sold the idea that fitness equals a specific body type such as lean, sculpted, flawless. In reality, true wellness looks different on everyone.
I’ve learned that being a great coach isn’t about having a “perfect” body; it’s about having integrity, empathy, and real-life experience. It’s about walking the talk, showing up with consistency, and helping others build confidence and strength from the inside out.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired from personal training tomorrow, my clients would probably miss the energy and heart I bring into every session. They’d miss the way I challenge them; not just physically, but mentally and emotionally.
I think they’d also miss the balance of discipline and compassion I bring — the way I can hold them accountable while still reminding them to give themselves grace. Beyond workouts and results, they’d miss the connection, encouragement, and genuine care that make our time together feel like more than training.
