We recently had the chance to connect with Zoie Gentry and have shared our conversation below.
Zoie, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Being a mom — outside of business, titles, or achievements — is this deep, indescribable mix of love, chaos, and purpose. It’s waking up tired but still smiling when you see that little face. It’s holding the world together with one hand while holding your child with the other. It’s not glamorous. It’s messy, emotional, exhausting — but it’s also the most grounding, soul-filling thing there is.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey, I’m Zoie — 25, mom of 2 + 2 bonus babies, and the woman behind the chair and lash table and spray tan tent. I’m an independent stylist and lash tech chasing big dreams while juggling mom life and business life. Coffee, chaos, and creativity pretty much sum it up — but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship hasn’t always been easy, but it’s built my strength, creativity, and drive to keep growing every day.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My father.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I was doing my best with what i knew — and that was enough. Every mistake, every moment of doubt, every time i felt lost… it was all leading me to the strength, wisdom, and peace i have now. I didn’t have to be perfect; i just had to keep going & fight the battles i dealt with silently- and i did.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes- absolutely.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace as a mom and hairstylist it’s like finally taking a deep breath after a long day — knowing that even though life is full, it’s full of purpose. It’s those quiet moments when your kids are laughing in the next room, or when a client looks in the mirror and smiles because you helped them feel beautiful again.
It’s the calm that comes from realizing you’re balancing two worlds — nurturing your family and your craft — and somehow, you’re doing it. It’s messy and imperfect, but it’s yours. Peace looks like being proud of the woman you’ve become, knowing that every late night, every early morning, and every strand of hair you’ve touched is part of the life you’ve built with love and intention.
