We recently had the chance to connect with Chanell Bell and have shared our conversation below.
Chanell, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Who are you learning from right now?
My younger self. I’ve been doing a lot of self work and reflection, trying to understand the root of who I am and why I do the things I do. I’ve realized that my younger self was my most authentic, carefree version ..full of imagination, raw honesty, and unfiltered emotion. Every day, I try to take a page from her book and use it to shape a new, evolved, and improved version of myself.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! My name is Chanell Bell, but most people know me simply as Babe the creative force behind Babe Company. I’ve always believed life should feel like an experience, not just an obligation, and that belief has shaped everything I do.
Babe Company is a reflection of my free spirited nature where art, vintage culture, and authentic experiences and creations come together. I run venue affairs, curate and sell antiques and vintage goods, and create spaces that encourage people to feel safe, inspired, and fully themselves. My goal is to offer more than just things ..I want people to walk away with moments and memories that feel one-of-a-kind.
I’ve always loved pushing the envelope and blurring creative lines. That’s why I’m currently expanding my world even further with a dog clothing brand that transforms everyday pet wear into wearable art because style and self expression shouldn’t stop at humans.
Right now, I’m in the midst of making one of the biggest moves of my life ..heading out west to San Diego to grow, evolve, and continue building on what I’ve created. For me, Babe Company isn’t just a brand; it’s a lifestyle, a story, and a celebration of individuality.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The idea of being a perfectionist! I’ve stopped so many projects from ever seeing the light of day because I believed they weren’t ready or good enough. While that mindset had its benefits , especially when it came to maintaining the quality and value I expect from my work it also taught me something important. It set a standard for me, but it also showed me that perfection can become a trap.
Moving forward, I’ve learned that it’s important to put in the work but also to know when to stop overanalyzing. It’s healthy to leave room for growth and to simply start somewhere.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
If I’m being completely honest, this is a constant battle , it’s my determination versus my comfort zone. Some days, I feel like the ultimate girl boss, like I have it all figured out. Then there are days when life hits fast, and you wonder why you’re even living on hard mode when you could just settle, let someone else call the shots, and follow their script.
Creating and building something bigger than yourself is a rollercoaster of emotions. Between the faith it takes to bet on yourself and the satisfaction that comes when things work out, there’s never a dull moment.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
I feel like the idea that money or status equals real power is misleading. True power comes from resilience, mental fortitude, and the ability to adapt, alchemize, and shape your reality. Our times have shown that anyone can gain a following or amass a hefty bank account, but at the end of the day, what are you carrying mentally? What fills the void, and what legacy or inspiration are you leaving behind?
Life is far more magical than reducing it to man made currency or fleeting opinions.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What will you regret not doing?
Of course the easiest answer that comes to mind is trying. I can’t imagine a life where I let my fears or doubts prevent me from taking what I want to do or my imagination and bringing it to life ! I don’t believe in “failure” I feel like everything is a learning opportunity and a motivator to pivot . Life is made to live so if I get stuck and dont take action that would totally be my biggest regret.
