An Inspired Chat with Stephon Scott of Gadsden

We recently had the chance to connect with Stephon Scott and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Stephon, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity because it’s what is apart of my morals ethics and values. Knowing I’m good in the skin I’m in.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Stephon aka BeatMonkey. I’m a music producer from Gadsden Alabama. Started BeatMonkey Productions back in 2013 but I’ve been creating music since I was 15. I’ve put out several instrumental albums and have dropped projects with a few local artists that I’ve produced for. I plan on releasing more instrumental albums and working in studio with artists to keep building my brand and likeness.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
A lil kid that just knew he could change the world. Coming from a small town in Alabama you saw people succeed but that was rare. That mentality changed the older I got and could see the world for what it really is.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Ah man several times lol. Especially with the music. Being independent is not for the weak. Having to fund your own career and still produce at a high level. Bills, kids, just life in general.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Bettering myself. That’s on a daily. Being a better person than I was yesterday. I know it sounds cliche but it’s my truth.

Living my best life. Not trying at all. That’s with all aspects of life. Coulda woulda shoulda is what people say all the time. Knowing I tried and that I gave it all I had is cool.
