Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kalvin Hernandez . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kalvin, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I get it from the people around me who I love and always have my back . Sometimes when life gets difficult you turn to the people that will help guide you in the right direction. my go to will always be my family and my close friends . I can depend on mine and I will always be thankful for them . no matter the situation there will always be a solution when you have the right people around you . my mother has always showed me how to overcome any situation that I get put in . to never give up because their will always be better days , even if it seems like its the end of the world there is so much more to live for .
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
ITS PHASE is a music artist based in the north central side of san Antonio Texas . he was inspired from different main stream artist in the world such as lil Wayne , Mac miller , 50 cent , ice cube , Kodak black , etc… he started rapping at the age of 14 and went on to taking it serious after realizing he could express how he feels with music . he then would start getting more than 100 streams on a platform called Soundcloud which at the time was good numbers for beginner artist . he didn’t know if he would succeed in the music industry but he decided to take a leap of faith and go on to recording more and more music .he is determined to get millions of views within the next years of his music career and to start working with new artist world wide . with over 17k streams on just Apple Music alone , he has a passion for music and a dream to get his family to see a better lifestyle.
The best part about being a music artist would be seeing my fans Rap over my music . seeing them repeat lyric by lyric , it’s a whole different feeling because you’d never expect that as a independent artist with no label . seeing that your music speaks for its self will always be an accomplishment of your hard work and who you are. my fans/supporters make it special , they are the reason my music gets shared all around the world to different cities and countries. if the music is good , it won’t be a problem to keep going but never forget you got people hating you for what you do .
ITS PHASE isn’t just a music artist , he is also a marketer/promoter & engineer. being an independent artist isn’t just about making music . there is so much more to it because you don’t have a team of professionals giving you a hand . you are doing it all on your own to succeed and see greatness out of your career .
ITS PHASE is set to drop new music consistently week after week starting august 5th , new music videos every month and also a new album by the beginning of the year of 2024 . new shows and interviews as well !
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
my advise is I would say learn how to do majority of the work yourself! their is a lot of benefits that come to that when you learn and make good use of your skill . I started practicing my mixing skills when I was only 15 years old . back then I didn’t know writing music , recording & practicing my ear skills would end up being a beneficial skill to my craft . on top of saving an incredible amount of money , I didn’t know it would also make me a good amount of money as well . when you learn how to practice your writing skills you learn how to express yourself more on paper while turning it into meaningful music . when you learn how to record and mix and master you are opening your sources of income. weather its 1 hour a day or 2 , setting a price on your skill will always bring money to your table . specially being an independent artist and investing in your own music . early in your music career you will want to spend money because you will think getting it recorded “professionally” at a music studio will give you a hit …but that’s where you have it wrong . Although some people get lucky and it works out for them , others don’t get as lucky and have to continuously be spending more money every time. save yourself from all that and practice your recording and mixing skills ! it doesn’t take any amount of money to go on YouTube and look up other people who have been in the music industry and learn from there tips and tricks . you will make more money by learning the skill if you decide to use it as a source of income and you will definitely save a lot more and thats a promise !
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
my biggest obstacle at this moment would be being able to get myself out in the world more and promoting my music . working hard will always be determined by yourself. the amount of hard work will always be a choice you decide to make . I am choosing to put in more hours in the studio and my day job to be able to make more money to support my music career . things won’t always go your way but if you put in the time you might just get closer to a dream you’ve had forever . I am also promoting my music by paying for promotion pages to post my music . you won’t get views if you are depending on the same people every time . I’ve learned that the bigger the amount of followers a promotion account has , the greater your chances are of being recognized will be ! so always invest and never stress .
