We recently had the chance to connect with Mrs. J’Kia Hart and have shared our conversation below.
Hi J’Kia , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: When have you felt most loved—and did you believe you deserved it?
I felt the most loved when I met my husband. My husband and I were friends for 11 years before we started dating, but the moment we started dating and getting to know each other on a different level is the moment I felt the most loved. The love he gives and show is like no other. Words can’t even explain it. I truly did not think I deserved the love he gives me only because of the things I’ve been through before him. His love for me is so unconditional. I love him for that.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is J’Kia Hart and I am the Founder/Executive Director of Transparent Progression. We are a Social Service that provides Pathways Beyond foster care through 3 pillars. Our 3 pillars are Life Skill Development, Licensed Mental Health Services and Housing Services. We believe that NO ONE should age out of care alone and that EVERYONE should be Heard, Seen and Cared for.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
There are two people in my life that saw me before I could see myself. The first was my bonus mom Cassandra. Since I was 12 years old she used to tell me that I was called to something greater and even in my adulthood she continues to tell me that God has called me to His people and how the works in me is far than I can see. The other is my best friend Briana. She believed in Transparent Progression even when I didn’t. When God gave the vision to me, Briana pushed me to make it happen. Without her I probably wouldn’t have pushed this far. I thank God for both of them and this is why I give them their flowers while they’re here.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I love this question. I stopped hiding my pain once I was free from my former abusive marriage. The moment God freed me from it is the moment I began to tell my story in order to release the pain from the abuse I endured. This helped me to accomplish so much because even when I felt like giving up his words ringed in my ears of telling me “I’ll never have or be anything without him”, and that made me push even the more. I used that physical, mental, emotional and spiritual abuse and turned it into Transparent Progression. A Non- Judgmental, Safe, and most importantly HEALING place for the vulnerable.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
Besides my own ideas the only person ideas I rely on specifically when it comes to Transparent is my Executive Assistant Pamela Dill. Her ideas are so brilliant and inspiring. I love how she takes my ideas and turn them into reality. When she run ideas across me rather for me or her I instantly see the vision and know it’s going to be amazing, inspiring and most importantly to me God felt.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
Well, everyone has their own story to tell about someone when they are gone but the story I hope I would leave behind to tell is that “J’Kia had the HEART TO BECOME THE CHANGE for the vulnerable, making sure they were seen, heard and cared for. She changed the lives of individuals by ensuring they did not become the statistics society said they would be but yet she helped transform their lives into what society told them they would never be”. That’s the story I want to leave behind.
