Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with IMAN

We’re looking forward to introducing you to IMAN . Check out our conversation below.

Hi IMAN , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: When have you felt most loved—and did you believe you deserved it?
The moment I felt most loved was the first time I held my son. Until then, love had often felt uncertain or conditional. But in that instant, I felt a pure, unwavering love that reached parts of me I didn’t even know were waiting.

That love reflected my worth back to me. It showed me that if I could bring such a beautiful soul into the world. Someone who would love me unconditionally, I could no longer accept anything less than the respect and care I deserved. It was a divine reminder that God saw me, trusted me, and chose me to raise a king. That moment changed how I love, how I show up, and how I allow others to treat me.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Iman, a mother, entrepreneur, creative strategist, and global nomad. Many in Atlanta first knew me as LOZ, the founder of The LOZ Gallery at the Metropolitan Lofts, now The Met, a vibrant hub that celebrated Black excellence, creativity, and community. As a creative director, stylist, and visual architect, I collaborated with talented visionaries across Atlanta, New York, and Los Angeles, producing work that merged culture, artistry, and innovation.

Life pushed me to grow in unexpected ways. I moved to Nigeria, where I founded an oil and gas servicing company with a partner and navigated a male-dominated industry, gaining a deeper understanding of leadership, strategy, and resilience.

My most profound transformation came through motherhood. After the birth of my son, I faced a period of profound upheaval. I battled postpartum depression, the hormonal challenges of PCOS, and a difficult weight-loss journey. I lost businesses, stability, and parts of myself, but instead of giving up, I rebuilt. That struggle shaped my next chapter and inspired my upcoming 2026 project, Becoming Iman, a platform dedicated to authentic growth, empowerment, and self-reclamation. Through this project, I document the realities of rebuilding as a mother, entrepreneur, and creative professional, showing that resilience, strategy, and purpose can coexist with vulnerability.

Today, I travel the world as a digital nomad with my son, coaching others in confidence, communication, and personal transformation as a Dutch language and mindset coach. We have lived in Nigeria, Colombia, Mexico, Canada, England, and the Netherlands, and every chapter has expanded my perspective and strengthened my mission to inspire others to own their journey and embrace evolution without apology.

I did not just survive. I reclaimed myself. Becoming Iman is my story, my mission, and my legacy.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that loved without boundaries and gave without protection. I used to pour myself into people who had no intention of pouring back. I tolerated disrespect, carried other people’s burdens, and allowed loyalty to keep me in places that love never lived. That version of me is gone. My heart, my energy, and my peace now belong to my son and me first. Access to me is earned, not assumed. Whether friend, family, or man, love must now come with reciprocity, respect, and alignment. My love is not a charity. It is priceless.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
One of the most defining wounds of my life has been the loss of the stability, security, and dreams I had worked so hard to build. After becoming a mother, I faced circumstances that tested me in ways I never imagined. I lost my home, my business, and the life I thought I had. It was a period of profound struggle and hardship that pushed me to my limits, but it also forced me to confront my strength, resilience, and capacity to rebuild. I poured my energy into creating a safe, loving life for my son and myself, learning to honor my worth, set boundaries, and reclaim my power. That experience became the foundation for transformation and inspired Becoming Iman, a journey of healing, growth, and turning adversity into purpose. I am still learning, and I am not done healing, but each step brings me closer to the life I am intentionally building.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I am devoted to God, to Islam, and to the quiet strength that guides my life. My faith shapes every choice I make, from how I love and raise my son to how I build Becoming Iman. It teaches me patience, resilience, and intentionality, keeping me steady when progress is slow and focused when challenges arise. I am committed to walking this path fully, knowing that true growth and purpose take time, and that the effort I invest now will create the life I want to live and the example I want to set for my son.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
People may misunderstand the transient nature of my life. I have never stayed in one place for long. My journey has taken me across countries and continents, constantly evolving. Some might see that as instability, but I see it as alchemy; a process of transformation. My soul was never meant to be confined; it was meant to wander, to absorb the beauty and lessons of the world, and to be shaped by every experience along the way.
