We recently had the chance to connect with Lynn Adrianna Freedman and have shared our conversation below.
Lynn Adrianna, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Who are you learning from right now?
I’ve begun studying Kabbalah which is an ancient form of Jewish mysticism. I become obsessed with learning new things and I would say Kabbalah is my current obsession. At the moment, The David Ghiyam Podcast is giving me life!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name’s Lynn Adrianna Freedman. I’m an artist, a mother, a seeker, a student, an entertainer, a businesswoman, a teacher and an entrepreneur. I think my uniqueness comes from a determination and a profound lifelong certainty that being an artist is my calling, even when circumstances in my life have seemed to contradict that. In truth, I’m more hungry and ambitious now than I was in my 20’s!
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I had a dance teacher very early on in the Bronx, Alice Teirstein. I was doing a summer dance camp with her and she took me aside one day after a performance and told me, “…you have it”, and that was it. I was off to the races.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
I am a better mother, artist and human because of my suffering. I have had to re-learn ways of thinking and being that were totally entrenched in my DNA. I have had to intentionally choose joy, faith and gratitude. Had I found success early on, I don’t think I would have felt compelled to learn those new ways.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I wrote a screenplay called Montauk shortly after giving birth to my daughter in 2014. It’s gotten very close to being made a few times, but things have fallen apart. I am committed to getting that film made no matter what.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Honestly, that is the summation of my professional life thus far. I don’t do it for the praise. I do it because I must.
