We recently had the chance to connect with Faith Constantine and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Faith, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I honestly have to say my relationship with God. The time that I take analyzing his word and applying it to my life. The healthy decisions that I’m making because of Him. The ways that I’m showing up and serving others.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Faith Constantine, a creative who specializes in photography. I love capturing moments and turning the mundane into works of art.
From engagements to sports, I capture it all.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I have always been creative.
In elementary school I took one of my mom‘s old digital cameras and used it to capture moments. Unfortunately, at some point I clicked this option that said ‘format’ and completely wiped the memory card so a lot of those photos are gone.
I even remember from a young age, wanting to do something with fashion. I recently found an old notebook of mine where I have the name of the clothing brand I wanted to start as well as some sketches (though they aren’t very good).
I have remained true to these visions. I am now a professional photographer with a degree in Consumer Apparel & Retail Studies (fashion merchandising)!
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering has taught me that God truly is the source of provision.
Every success, opportunity, job, etc. that I’ve had is just a tool/vessel that He used to pour into me. Ultimately, He is the reason why I have everything that I have and without Him I have nothing.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
As cliché is, this may sound I used to believe that my worth was in engagement on social media.
Whenever I would post photos that I was proud of and the engagement was not what I thought it should be I would start to question my own talents.
I now know that is VERY invalid and it was silly of me to feel inadequate because of the number of likes, comments, and/or shares that I might have (or might not have) received.
I know that my talent lives within and it’s not reflected through engagement on social media.
I hope that this is an encouragement to somebody else who may also be struggling with this mentality: I have a photography page (@capturedwithfaith) dedicated to my action work (sports events, etc.) The page has less than 500 followers and I might get about 20 likes per post, yet that was the account that the Boston Celtics found and used to contact me so that I could photograph a game and be highlighted by them in their ‘Local Artist Series’.
Keep showing up, putting in work, and your talents will make room for you (Proverbs 18:16)
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
Honestly, when I’m with my loved ones. Moving hundreds of miles away from my close friends and family helped me realize just how much I value time with them. You know what they say. “You don’t know what you have until it’s gone.”
