Kimberly Brandon’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We recently had the chance to connect with Kimberly Brandon and have shared our conversation below.

Kimberly, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is a normal day like for you right now?

“A normal day for me starts with my job, which takes up most of my day. After work, I usually head straight to the gym to get a workout in. Once I’m home, I shower, eat, and shift into school mode to focus on assignments or studying. I make it a point to spend some time with my family in the evening, and then I usually end the night editing content, writing in my devotional Bible, and winding down for bed. It’s a full schedule, but I’ve found a rhythm that keeps me productive and grounded.”

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I go by Slayedby_k_, and I am a part-time content creator with a passion for fashion, style, and a bit of lifestyle content. By day, I’m juggling work, school, and family but creating content is where I get to express myself and connect with others who share similar interests. My brand is all about authentic style putting together looks that feel confident, effortless, and true to who you are, no matter how busy life gets.

What makes my journey unique is the balance I’m not a full-time influencer, but I’ve built a space where everyday style meets real life. Whether I’m sharing outfit inspiration, styling tips, or pieces of my daily routine, I want people to feel inspired and empowered to show up as their best selves. Right now, I’m focused on being more consistent and intentional with my content, and continuing to grow a community that values both style and substance.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
“The relationship that most shaped how I see myself is my marriage. Being married to my husband has been more than just a partnership it’s been a mirror. He’s someone who has consistently seen the best in me, even when I struggled to see it in myself. Through his love, support, and honesty, I’ve grown to understand my own value, strengths, and even my beauty in a deeper way.

He’s encouraged me to embrace who I am fully creatively and emotionally, and that’s played a huge role in how I now carry myself, both online and in everyday life. Our relationship has taught me that being truly seen and loved can shift your entire self-image, and I’m really grateful for that.

When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
When I was sad or scared as a child, prayer was always my comfort. Even when I didn’t fully understand everything, I knew that talking to God brought me peace. It helped calm my fears and reminded me that I wasn’t alone, no matter what I was facing. My faith gave me a sense of protection and hope, and that stayed with me as I grew. Prayer was and still is my safe space, my reset, and the way I remind myself that God is always near, even in the hardest moments.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
A common misconception in both fashion and content creation is that success requires constant hustle and flawless perfection whether that means wearing the latest designer pieces or posting non-stop. The fashion industry, in particular, often promotes the idea that you need a large budget or must follow every trend to be considered stylish.

However, true style is defined by creativity and confidence making the most of what you already have. In content creation, authenticity always outweighs perfection. Ultimately, success comes from staying true to yourself rather than chasing unattainable ideals

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What light inside you have you been dimming?
The light I’ve been dimming is my own confidence in fully embracing my creativity and voice. Sometimes, juggling work, school, family, and content creation makes me second-guess if I’m doing enough or if I’m expressing myself authentically. I tend to hold back, worrying about how others might perceive me or if I’m measuring up.

But I’m learning that my unique perspective and style are worth shining brightly. The more I allow myself to step into that light, the more I feel connected to my purpose and true self.
