Meet Luis Guerrero

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Luis Guerrero. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Luis, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

I keep my creativity alive by having fun while creating my works and constantly challenging my own views on what my art can be.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am a Mexican-born abstract artist based in the Pacific Northwest.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Three things I could have learned sooner or knowledge that was impactful. One, make art for yourself that you enjoy, don’t worry if others will like it. This will help you worry less about what people think, and focus more on creating what moves you.
Two, invest in yourself, don’t wait for other people to believe in you, do what you need to push yourself to your next goal within your means, and be realistic.
Three, do not wait to be inspired, it will never come. Create through all spectrums of emotions, sad, happy, angry, calm, etc.
My advice for those early in their journey is to be consistent with their goals. Don’t lose sight of why you started your journey in the first place.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?

I would spend that decade having fun and making art, giving people the chance to continue collecting my art work.
