Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Symone. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Symone, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
You know it’s quite humorous to be asked this because everyday we think we are required to have our purpose figured out and it creates such pressure. I find beauty in this question because with purpose comes a sense of belonging and I know exactly where I belong.
I wish I could say I found my purpose in the most cliché way but truthfully my purpose found me. In 2020, I began my makeup journey: creating fun looks, studying makeup influencers and finding my own style of makeup. Being in quarantine allowed me to escape what was my then reality and gave me the confidence I longed for. Everyday I would post on Instagram showcasing my creativity and passion for art, but what I didn’t realize was I was living in everything God intended for my life.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Symone, but everyone knows me as Ming. I am a 5 year makeup artist from Los Angeles and founder of the hottest cosmetics brand, Journee Beeauty.
Journee Beeauty services all beauty lovers with a passion for being creative, unique and edgy or simple, soft and glamorous. We have both eye and lip products that enhance your natural beauty and make you feel comfortable and confident. I launched Journee Beeauty June 2021 and I love telling this story because it reminds me of how good God truly is, but I launched Journee Beeauty in 2021 at 3:30am. I purchased lashes and said, “God, if you hold my hand through this, I will follow you through this entire process” and within a week or two, I sold out. It’s safe to say, four years later, six full restocks, continuous sold out items, collaborations and six publication, God is still holding me.
Currently, we launched our naturally nudes collection which includes 7 different lipgloss ranging from nude to pink shades. Soon we will be on the search for the new face of our brand as we are always looking to show inclusivity.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Oh this is such a great question. I would say three areas of knowledge that are impactful to me are always be patient, always be driven and forever be teachable.
With patience comes a waiting period and I want everyone to know there is beauty in waiting. A great example I can give is waiting in a doctor’s office. If the doctor isn’t ready for you, they’ll have you sit in the waiting room until they’re fully prepared to help you. What you decide to do in that waiting room, is solely up to you. I believe God will make us wait until He sees we can handle the blessing he is preparing for us but what we do in that waiting, is solely up to us.
To be driven means you are passionate to accomplish your goals and in life we are all motivated by something. Never give up on yourself even if you’re standing alone.
In order to be a good leader, you must be a good follower and teachable. You’re not the smartest person in the room and if you are, it’s time to find a new room. I learn from my peers everyday- new marketing strategies, projects, reaching a new target audience etc and it’s because I listen and take time to figure out how to run a successful business.
My advice is to never be afraid to ask for help and don’t compare yourself to anyone. Their story is not yours, as a matter of fact your story is still being written and you might like the ending if you keep going.

Oh absolutely. As a creative I am always looking to collaborate with other creatives. When I started in this industry, I didn’t have every big brand checking for me, right, but I knew I wanted to make a difference, so I kept going until I created a brand door specifically for the “overlooked” crowd.
