Meet Dion Foley

We were lucky to catch up with Dion Foley recently and have shared our conversation below.

Dion, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
My optimism comes from observing and learning from others who squandered away opportunities and destroyed everything good in their lives— primarily due to their mindset. I realized what we expect is what we look for, and what we look for is what we find. We create most of our own obstacles, leading to inaction, and often bitterness. Recognizing some of those traits in myself, I worked very hard (and still do) to break those patterns.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a Producer who’s worked on over 40 feature films. Currently, I’m writing and producing the comedic adventures of “Buddy & Oscar” — an animated series for families and kids. “Buddy & Oscar” is about a Pit Bull and Chihuahua who become best friends when a family opens their hearts and home to two former strays. Being a former Pit Bull Dad, this project is near and dear to my heart. Our mission is to help Pit Bulls and Chihuahuas — two of the most misunderstood and overlooked dog breeds — find the loving homes they deserve. The first two episodes will be streaming later this year. Check out our socials for a sneak peak [Instagram @buddyandoscartv | TikTok @buddyandoscartv | Youtube @BuddyandOscar]

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My fairness, kindness, and authenticity. Deals should equally benefit both parties. One-sided deals drive short-term gains but not long-term success. It’s important to be firm and direct while leading a team, but hostile work environments stunt creativity, communication, and productivity. When people feel seen, heard, and appreciated, they become motivated and completely buy in. Only then can companies and projects reach their highest potential. In a world full of curated feeds, robotic conversation, and Hollywood’s famous last words “let’s do lunch” – there’s tremendous value in being a straight shooter and staying true to yourself. The most fruitful relationships are genuine, lasting, and built on trust.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
“Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself” by Dr. Joe Dispenza – a book about how your thoughts and emotions create your personality and reality, and how to use neuroscience and quantum physics to rewire your brain. You literally become addicted to your emotions, whether they are good or bad, because your habitual thoughts and feelings create a chemical response in the body that reinforces those patterns. Through self-awareness, meditation, and mental rehearsal, you can unlearn past emotions and reprogram your mind to manifest your desired future.
