Meet Ken the Rapper

We were lucky to catch up with Ken The Rapper recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Ken, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from Miley Cyrus. She’s always been fearless, driven, and dedicated to her craft, and that inspires how I approach everything I do.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I make music, and for me, it’s about creating songs that connect with people on a real level. What excites me most is being able to take my personal experiences and turn them into something others can feel, dance to, or see themselves in. As a pop artist, I’ve often found myself being put into hip hop categories, and while that can be frustrating, it also shows how versatile my sound is and how it pushes against the boxes people try to put artists in.

I’m releasing a short album called “Out of Focus” which will be out on November 14. It shows a little more vulnerability than any of my other albums. There’s a song called “Fuck the World” and “IDK”that I’m very excited about. What’s special about my brand is that it’s bold, unapologetic, and true to who I am — I’m not afraid to experiment with different sounds or tell my story the way I want it told. I want people to know that the music I put out isn’t just for me; it’s for anyone who’s ever felt like they didn’t quite fit into one lane.

Right now, I’m working on new music that takes everything I’ve been through and turns it into something even bigger. It’s a new chapter, and I can’t wait to share it.

Kencore Records is my vision come to life, a space where artists can create freely and push boundaries without being boxed in. I founded the label to build a collective that celebrates individuality and real artistry. Our roster is stacked with incredible talent but currently there are only Ai artists except myself of course we have Savanna Brooks bringing smooth Pop/R&B vibes, Levi Zane holding it down for Glam Rock, Aubrey Vailen (previously Nova Rae) mixing pop with trap edge, and The Runners Club (formally Starlit) shining as our standout boy band. Together, we’re creating a movement that’s bold, authentic, and unstoppable.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three things that impacted my journey the most were consistency, authenticity, and adaptability. Staying consistent kept me moving forward even when progress felt slow and showing up every day matters more than waiting for the “perfect” moment. Being authentic helped me build a real connection with people; once I stopped trying to fit into everyone else’s idea of who I should be, everything started aligning. And adaptability has been key, especially in this industry. Things change fast, and being able to evolve without losing your core is powerful. For anyone starting out, my advice is: build solid habits early so consistency becomes natural, know your voice and your vision so you can stay grounded in authenticity, and stay open to learning whether it’s new skills, sounds, or strategies, growth comes from being willing to adjust without giving up your identity.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes, I’m always looking forward to creating with different artists — whether it’s collaborating on a new song, or even having someone write for me one day (which hasn’t happened yet, but I’m definitely open to it). I love working with creatives in any capacity, because that’s where the magic really happens.
