We recently had the chance to connect with Russell 2.0 and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Russell, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
What’s most important to me, of these three, would be intelligence. The reason being is that a wise person will know right from wrong, therefore, and hopefully practicing integrity at all times. While energy cannot be taught, it’s a very close second, because whatever any of us are doing in life, having that natural internal drive and desire to win, is the foundation for success.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a singer, songwriter and producer of music. My artist name is; Russell 2.0 – I began my career at age fifteen, when I co-wrote a Grammy award winning song. My preferred genre is R&B. However, I have written for and worked with many artist from Garth Brooks to Michael Jackson. During Covid, when everything was initially closed, I decided to go to a music studio and create new songs, inspired by the women I was dating. Currently, there are fourteen new songs available on all platforms, with an upcoming EP soon to be released, titled; Chasing Tisshko
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I’ve always been good at solving problems and helping others. Starting at a young age, I excelled in activities that I would put my mind to. This ranged from sports, music, academics, and the general challenges the world throws our way. I enjoyed the feeling of accomplishing a task. Internally, these moments made me feel powerful.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
My low points have been very minimal compared to what many other people have suffered through. Life gives you many ups and downs, for all of us, and during the downtimes, a person can certainly learn and challenge themself to become better. It also teaches you to care and help others. Visit a Children’s Hospital, help an elderly person carry something or educate yourself on the many different countries in the world. It’s not everyone, but some people who become successful, forget where they came from, which keeps them from mentoring or creating an opportunity for someone else.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, by choice, I’m an independent artist. This freedom allows me to be authentic and genuine with the music that I produce. I’m very proud of this and I enjoy the relationships I’ve built as Russell 2.0 – I remember when I released the first of my new songs, titled; August, only 2 1/2 years ago, and I had zero social media presence. By forming real and genuine relationships, I’ve been able to grow my platforms and meet many wonderful people across the world.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
Nothing, because I’m going to accomplish all my goals. Between my current songs, and the new EP that’s being released, I feel as if the sky is the limit. I won’t stop until I go on tour, perform overseas, win additional awards, help others in the music industry, stay humble and continue to grow, and make it to the top.
