Tulika Agarwal shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Tulika , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
Honestly, I think a lot of people still believe that health coaching is just about meal plans or losing a few pounds. But that’s such a small part of what I do at Flourish and Emerge. My work is really about helping people reconnect with themselves, their body, their emotions, their habits and build a lifestyle that feels good and sustainable.
When I started this journey two years ago, under the mentorship of my incredible coach Anu Simh from 9 Arms of Wellness, I realized how misunderstood true wellness can be. It’s not about cutting out everything you love or following rigid rules. It’s about finding balance, healing your relationship with food, and learning what your body truly needs to thrive.
At Flourish and Emerge, my goal is to help clients not just look healthier, but feel more confident, energetic, and aligned in their daily lives. It’s about progress, not perfection, and seeing that shift in people is what makes this work so meaningful to me.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Tulika Agarwal, a certified health coach and the founder of Flourish and Emerge — a wellness practice that helps women reclaim their energy, balance their hormones, and create a healthier relationship with food and themselves.
My journey into health coaching started with my own struggles, years of fatigue, hormonal imbalance, and confusion around what “healthy” really meant. I realized that true well-being isn’t just about diet or exercise; it’s about nourishing every part of who we are, mind, body, and spirit.
That realization led me to train under my incredible mentor,, whose guidance helped me turn my passion for holistic living into a purpose-driven business. Two years ago, Flourish and Emerge was born, a name that represents exactly what I want my clients to experience: the ability to flourish from within and emerge as their most vibrant, confident selves.
What makes my work special is how personalized it is. Every woman’s journey is different, some come to me wanting to lose weight, others to manage perimenopause, blood sugar issues, or just to feel “like themselves” again. I create tailored programs that meet them where they are, combining science-based nutrition, mindset shifts, and lifestyle tools that actually fit real life.
Right now, I’m excited about expanding my 12 week Optimal Health Jumpstart program and launching a few group resets that help women feel supported while making lasting changes. My mission is simple: to empower women to take back control of their health, one mindful habit at a time.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Without a doubt, my mentor Anu. She saw the potential in me long before I fully recognized it myself. When I was still figuring out my own health and direction, she believed in my ability to guide others, to listen deeply, to hold space, and to help people transform their lives.
Her belief gave me the confidence to step into my role as a coach and create Flourish and Emerge. Every time I work with a client and witness their breakthrough moments, I’m reminded of how Anu once saw that same possibility in me and that’s something I’ll always carry forward in how I mentor and serve others.
When did you last change your mind about something important?
I’d say it happens almost every day! Studying and living health and wellness has made me realize that growth is about staying open and curious. A few years ago, I used to believe that once I found the “perfect” diet or routine, I just had to follow it consistently and everything would fall into place. But the more I learned and lived through my own journey the more I understood that our bodies are constantly changing, and so should our approach.
There was a time when I pushed myself too hard in the name of “discipline.” I was eating clean, exercising regularly, doing everything right, yet still feeling drained and disconnected. That’s when I had to change my mind about what health really means. It’s not about restriction or rigid rules, it’s about listening to your body, honoring rest, and finding balance.
As a coach, I remind myself daily to walk the talk. If I’m asking my clients to show themselves compassion, I need to do the same. That mindset shift from perfection to progress has not only changed my life but also how I guide others at Flourish and Emerge. Wellness, I’ve learned, isn’t something you master; it’s something you live, learn, and evolve with every single day.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
That’s such a great question and honestly, it’s one I ask myself often as both a coach and a lifelong learner. The wellness world is full of trends that promise quick fixes, new supplements, “miracle” diets, 7-day transformations but true health doesn’t come from extremes.
Over time, I’ve learned to pause before jumping on any trend and ask: Does this align with how the body naturally heals and functions? If it’s rooted in balance, nourishment, and sustainability, it’s likely a foundational shift. If it’s rooted in fear, deprivation, or urgency, it’s usually a fad.
At Flourish and Emerge, my goal is to help clients build habits that last beyond the hype. Real wellness isn’t flashy it’s consistent, mindful, and deeply personal. Foundational shifts are the ones that stand the test of time like focusing on whole foods, sleep, hydration, stress management, and mindset. These aren’t “trends”; they’re timeless truths.
For me, that’s the difference — fads fade, but foundations help you flourish and emerge for life.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I’ve come to understand that healing isn’t linear and that’s something many people struggle to accept. We live in a world that celebrates quick results and constant progress, but real transformation doesn’t look like a straight line. It’s messy, emotional, and often requires unlearning as much as learning.
When I started my own wellness journey, I used to think that once I “fixed” my diet or my habits, everything would fall into place. But what I discovered is that healing is an ongoing conversation with yourself. There will be days you feel in flow and days you don’t and both are equally important.
Through my work at Flourish and Emerge, I try to help women see that wellness isn’t about willpower or perfection. It’s about awareness, compassion, and consistency. When you stop fighting your body and start listening to it, everything changes. You begin to realize that health isn’t something you chase it’s something you nurture every single day.
