Sharone Hakman shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Sharone, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Meditate first. That’s a non-negotiable. Then a workout. When I get both of those done in the first 90 minutes of my morning, I’m set for my day! Now I can tackle anything
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Sharone Hakman, and I’m the Chef and Founder of Chef Hak’s, a Los Angeles based organic food brand specializing in clean, delicious, and convenient ready-to-heat meals, proteins, veggies, sauces, dressings, and more. Our products are available nationwide at retailers like Costco, Whole Foods, and more.
I began my career in finance but took a hard pivot to pursue my true passion for cooking the day after my first son was born, about 15 years ago. That decision led me to audition for and land a spot on MasterChef Season 1 on FOX, where I discovered how much I loved sharing food and flavor with others. When the show ended, I launched Chef Hak’s and I’ve never looked back. Today, I continue to follow that passion by striving to bring chef-crafted, healthy, and crave-worthy convenience to families everywhere, making real, restaurant quality, wholesome food more accessible.
I am also the co-founder of a wellness supplement company called Sunny Within. I started this company with my best friend Ken Lawson a little over a year ago and it has been so fun to watch it grow! With Sunny Within, we’re on a mission to level up the supplement industry with smarter formulas that are easier and more enjoyable to take!
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
Cooking in the kitchen with the grandmother. She was like a mother to me. The person I loved most in this world and she taught me how to cook from a young age. I learned that if I have the skills to cook for myself and others, then that is the ultimate power. Sharing joy and love with everyone around me.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I had wonderful parts of my childhood surrounded by incredible role models, but also some very difficult periods with people who weren’t the kindest to me. I’d tell my younger self to focus on the good people and moments, and to remember that I am lovable and a good person. No child should every feel unworthy of love. I’d give that little boy a big hug and say, You’re a great kid! you deserve love, support, respect, and the chance to show the world who you really are
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My kids. My wife. My family. My friends. My dog. Staying healthy, fit and full of energy to get to enjoy all of this. And of course my businesses because I get to create something incredible for other people to enjoy and I get to do it alongside other people who are full of passion and heart.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I just want to be the best version of myself that I can be. I want to take care of those around me and inspire people to take on challenges in life with gratitude and love.
