We’re looking forward to introducing you to Raven Jeannette. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Raven , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I am definitely a wandering path! I enjoy not knowing where life will take me. With faith, trust, and confidence, I know the destination I am headed to will be there when I arrive. No matter where you are in life or your career, every dream you prayed for is now your reality! Allow the mysteries to unfold at your own time. Keep wandering!!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Raven Jeannette, and I am an honest, hilarious, and grounded Southern belle from Huntsville, AL. I began my acting career in 2016 and am grateful to still be pursuing opportunities in stage and film, with additional work in modeling and directing. In 2022, I moved to New York City, unsure of what life would offer. Shortly after, I was cast in a play for the SHENyc Festival called “Gray: A Play about a Race Through Time.” Within six months, I secured a steady income while still having the freedom to audition.
During my three years living in New York, I have participated in various productions, short films, workshops, collaborations, and storytelling. When I’m not creating, I enjoy Pilates, taking walks in the park, attending shows (including Broadway, opera, and ballet), traveling, visiting museums, and spending time with friends and family. I’m the life of every party and absolutely love having a good time!
What makes my brand unique is my elegance and authenticity. I possess a distinctive poise that conveys truth and rawness in both myself and the characters I portray. I strive in depth, never width!
This past summer, I had the opportunity to attend the 2025 Drama Desk Awards. It was a fabulous experience, and I am excited for the day when I will be there as a nominee. It was surreal to be in close proximity to artists I have admired since childhood, especially meeting Audra McDonald, who has been a significant inspiration for me. She was so kind and caring. Her radiance and timeless talent make her a remarkable figure both on and off the stage.
Being 26 years old and having accomplished so much keeps me inspired every day. Using my southern comfort and charm, I aim to be a voice for the unheard. Never focus on how long something takes, but sit in the gratitude that you are indeed the turtle in this rabbit race.
In the past, I have found myself praying for a flower when God has a bouquet waiting for me at the end of the tunnel. Continue to shine in your truth. Your light has been found, and nobody can tell you otherwise. Always carry your roots everywhere you go!
In my book, the South has something to say.
Thanking God, who is the author of my story that is still being written!!
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
My mother, grandmother, and aunts!! I come from a family of educators, lawyers, musicians, and athletes. There’s never a dull moment with my family. The women in my life have taught me about courage, protection, and the importance of prayer. I have always been confident in who I am and am not afraid to share the wisdom of my upbringing with others. They taught me to never place judgment upon anyone. You never know someone´s story. Always lead with support, love, and kindness. My grandmother has always worked hard to ensure I live a healthy life. She is my best friend and is always just a phone call away for reassurance. She truly embodies the spirit of a praying grandmother, able to quote the Bible from beginning to end with her eyes closed. Her grace and the knowledge she has gained from her life experiences continue to amaze me.
My mother serves as a strong foundation in my life, and I wouldn’t trade her for anything. She has taught me about strength and tough love, preparing me for the challenges of life in the best way possible. Her support throughout all my endeavors has been invaluable. I owe a significant debt of gratitude to the women in my life. I would never exchange my upbringing for anything else. The village of support I receive from my SHEroes has always been a blessing.
Their stories are told through me every day. Forever grateful.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
To my little Raven
You have always been loved and valued. Don´t let the bullies steer you away from your authentic self. Continue to flourish in your weirdness. People LOVE YOU!! Keep smiling, pretty girl.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
I can only attest for my life I´ve lived, not yours!
We all have stories to tell and challenges to face. However, that doesn’t give anyone the right or privilege to make someone else feel bad about their existence simply because their own life isn’t going well. It is okay to have opinions and complain, but at some point, all the negativity must cease. Understand your plan and lock in for that platform.
I love deeply and strive to empathize with others, but don’t mistake my kindness for weakness. I am an honest woman who will confront you directly if you cross me or the people I care about.
I believe in leading with words, never with fighting. Life is too short to worry about those who hold you back from success. Surround yourself with the people who have supported you from the beginning, and let go of those you’ve given countless chances to, especially if they choose to be dishonest.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
Praying
God has always been there for me through the good, bad, and ugly. I don´t know what the future holds, but I know to have faith and trust! As long as I have breath in my body, I will continue serving the Lord. Everything will be alright!!
