An Inspired Chat with Bethany Nicole

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Bethany Nicole . Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Bethany , we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
One of the things that bring me joy outside of work is going home to write down my ideas of the next piece I want to revamp and my son watching me as I create.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Bethany Smiley. I am the ceo/owner of Haute Seven, LLC. My brand specifically caters to revamping clothing. Taking something that was once old and making it into something new & up to date. I have recently begun my journey in content creation. I will be doing lifestyle vlogging that revolves around beauty, fashion, as well as when I am working on a revamp.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
The person that saw me clearly before I could see myself was my grandmother. Growing up, she would let me pick out her Sunday clothes for church, apply her make up and do her hair. Back then I didn’t realize how that shaped me into the woman I am when it comes to fashion. My grandmother didn’t dress to impress people, she dressed for herself.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
I think that suffering teaches you that it’s never really over. The only way to reach success is by continuously trying until it sticks. Just because it doesn’t work the first time around, doesn’t mean it will never work. You just have to get back in the lab, tweak some things & give it your all.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I think my closest friends would say that the impact I leave on people is what matters the most to me. My dad always told me “Treat the janitor with the same respect you treat the CEO”. Every one deserves kindness regardless of what/who they are.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
I definitely could give my best even if I one praised me. I think once we as people realize that it’s more about self fulfillment/happiness than what others think or feel, we realize that we don’t need the applause of others. I feel most accomplished just doing what I said I was going to do & seeing it through completion.
