Grace Galster shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Grace , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I love my mornings because I get to experience two of my favorite things: coffee and breakfast. Once I’m awake I normally pick a vinyl record to play to help me start getting ready for the day. Once I’ve done my skincare and read through my devotional for the day, I’m heading straight to the kitchen to cook breakfast and make a delicious cup of coffee.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, my name is Grace. I’m a social worker by trade with a heart for serving others, and creativity has always been my favorite outlet. I love all things within the arts, so when not at work you can typically find me either meticulously curating a Spotify playlist, enjoying a show at the Fox, catching a concert at one of Atlanta’s incredible venues, or capturing sweet moments at weddings by creating custom portraits for guests.
I’ve been offering wedding painting services for about three years now, and it’s been such a joy to see where this creative path has taken me. There’s something really special about being invited into someone’s big day and getting to create a keepsake that the couple, and all their loved ones, can treasure for years to come. Being part of those moments is what inspires me and fuels my passion for this work.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
My mom is the person who taught me the most about work. She has always been someone who goes above and beyond and never quits something she starts. Through her example, I learned what it looks like to try new things, to keep going even when I fail, and to show up with persistence and grace.
She modeled an incredible work ethic—balancing a nine-to-five job, staying active in the community, and still being present for every dance recital, swim meet and school production I was in. From her, I learned that showing up, trying your best, and following through are some of the most important things you can do.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could go back and tell my younger self one thing, it would be to have more confidence in myself. A perfectionist mindset can be so harmful and limit you in so many ways. It can keep you from trying new things, stepping out, or fully enjoying the moment. I would definitely remind little Grace that she is capable, creative, and stronger than she realizes. I’d remind her to have fun, be brave, and to trust herself a little more. She can do hard things and she doesn’t have to be perfect to shine.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
As a social worker, I’ve witnessed a wide range of heartbreak in the field, but one population that has captured my heart is youth in the foster care system. During my time working in Child Protective Services, I saw firsthand the barriers, challenges, and deep brokenness that so many of these young people face.
One of my biggest long-term goals is to start a nonprofit dedicated to supporting youth as they age out of foster care and transition into adulthood. Too many leave the system with little funding, limited support, and no roadmap for what comes next. I hope to build a mentorship program that provides guidance, resources, and community—something that helps set them up for success and reminds them they don’t have to navigate that transition alone.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
My faith is the foundation of who I am. Before anything else, I am a daughter of a loving God, and that truth keeps me grounded in every season of life. Knowing that I am fully loved and deeply known has shaped me in the most meaningful way, and I’m so grateful for the relationship I have with Him. I hope others know that same peace, love, and connection are available to them too.
