Whitney Freya shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Whitney, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
In my last book, 30 Days to Unstoppable, I write about how our dreams and visions find us because of resonance and that to be unstoppable, you want to remember that you are co-creating this dream or vision into reality with the infinite, or your Infinite Self. In other words, you can lean in to synchronicities and coincidences when you feel truly called to something because it already has a “blueprint,” just like a seed. And, just like a seed, it needs us to take it out of the packet, plant it in healthy, clear ground, water, sun, etc. In November 2024 I was given a call and it scared the bejeebers out of me. AND I felt the resonance and, after weeks of being open, I committed to co-creating into this reality The Great Mother March! It is a 32 Day Empowerment Pilgrimage, walking from Asheville, NC to the U.S. Capitol starting on March 21st, 2026. It is massive! Before this, I was afraid to create too big of an event… and now, here we go!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
When I was 24, I read the book Zen & the Art of Making a Living and in it, the author states, “Unless you adopt an artist mentality, you won’t be able to create the life of your dreams.” At the time, I was selling books door-to-door, three years after graduating from the University of Michigan. There were two things I knew for sure at this point. First, life is clearly way more like a blank canvas than a multiple choice test and, second, I had been a HUGE wanna-be artist my whole life and did not feel like this “artist mentality” was very accessible. So, I went out and sold a ton of books that next summer, quit, bought an old, run down house in Nashville, TN and created The Creative Fitness Center, where people could come to develop the artist mentality! I have been doing this, from different angles ever since! I believe art is actually meant to guide us into living life as art, to connect us to our intuitive, infinite-based mindset and connect us to the pulse of creation that is woven into every atom of energy. I teach a sacred painting practice that is playful, full of magic and completely life changing!
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
In both houses I grew up in, my mom and I created “art centers” under the basement stairs. The first one was painted all yellow and the second red. We stenciled the words ART CENTER and built shelves to store my art supplies. Kids from the neighborhood would come over to create with me. I felt so validated because I was able to create my own special nook in the house and play “teacher” with my friends. I remember hearing that you are your most authentic self at age eight. At eight I was doing, more or less, what I am still doing now! The only twist is that at age 9 an art teacher told me and my mom that “drawing isn’t her thing.” And from that point on, I only dabbled in crafts. What I heard was that I could never be an artist. I did not paint again until age 25 when I opened my art center!
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
About 6 years after I opened my art center, my accountant said to me, “you’re not giving up, are you?” I remember feeling this wave of surprise and curiosity. I replied back, “is that even an option!?” My call to awaken as much creative frequency on this planet as possible, within as many heARTs as possible, has never faltered. Along the way, I co-owned two wine bars with a friend who had owned an art gallery. We merged her gallery and my adult art classes, opened a wine bar next door, then a second one. The second wine bar involved business partners that became toxic, resulting in the friend and I walking away from the restaurant, as beautiful, loved and vibrant, although not financially abundant, as it was. It was heart breaking and surrounded by lots of drama. So, in a way, we totally gave up and I remember in the moment thinking, “If I am going to coach others, I have to experience failure and everything that comes with it. I chose to believe I was being prepared, even though most of the time I felt hurt and ashamed that we couldn’t make it work. I know now, that it is within our deepest struggles that we source our greatest strength and wisdom. I never want to CHOOSE the struggle, but when it finds me, I try to stay aligned with this belief.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
I do believe we are all here in “Earth School.” I choose to believe that I am an infinite being who chose to come here to learn and that you are too. Ultimately, we are intending to learn, to remember really, that we are the sole creators of our reality. The opposite is embodying the victim mentality, allowing someone or something else to be more powerful or influential than yourself. Looking outside of myself for what will bring me true fulfillment has been replaced by a deep inner knowing that how I think about life, what I speak to and what I expect are the most influential aspects of my life experience. Life is an inside out job. Our imaginations are what we use when we are stressed or worried, imagining what we DON’T want to happen, when we could remember how to use our imaginations to paint pictures of the best case scenario and what we truly want. I believe we are, I know I have been, afraid to imagine the best case, because what if it doesn’t happen? Easier to expect the worst, or to not stretch too far out of our comfort zones. At the canvas, I guide my clients into witnessing how they can focus on what they want, expect to be supported, and how to stay present and follow the inspiration, moment by moment. So life is art and we are here to learn. Works for me!
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I am just writing about this in my upcoming book! Your legacy is frequency. If more people understood this, I believe they would feel more freedom and expansiveness in their lives. What is the feeling people will experience when they bring you to mind after you transition? What beliefs, experiences, examples have you shared that you will leave behind, whether people know to credit you or not? For example, I imagine a future where it is more common for people to declare, “I AM creative!” rather than “I am not…” I am constantly adding this frequency into the world. Whether someone thinks of me 60 years from now when they say “I am creative” or they just know that they are, I have added to the frequency that holds this to be true. What you bring energetically when you walk into a room, the memories people have with you, are all your legacy. What do you want to leave your children? Love. Respect. Joy. Optimism. Understanding. Patience. Compassion. Courage. When I imagine into what I will leave behind, may it be aligned with these frequencies.
