An Inspired Chat with KaAsia Washington of Trenton

We’re looking forward to introducing you to KaAsia Washington. Check out our conversation below.

Hi KaAsia, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
Right now, I’m being called to teach, to pour into the next generation of hairstylists the same way I once needed someone to pour into me. For a long time, I was afraid to step into that role because I didn’t feel qualified enough. I kept telling myself I needed to accomplish more first, when in reality, I already had everything I needed, experience, results, and a system that works.

Now I understand that my voice, my techniques, and my story are tools meant to help other stylists build structure, confidence, and consistency in their businesses. So I’m no longer shrinking back, I’m standing tall in my purpose as an educator and mentor for up-and-coming hairstylists ready to create longevity and freedom through their craft.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m KaAsia Washington, founder of Life of Lucid, a private salon studio and wig manufacturing company established in 2018. What started as a way to make women feel beautiful has evolved into a luxury brand built on clarity, confidence, and consistency.

At Life of Lucid, I specialize in custom wigs and seamless sew-ins designed for longevity, comfort, and natural results. But what truly sets my brand apart is the structure behind the beauty, I’ve built systems that keep clients returning and stylists inspired.

Today, I’m stepping into a new chapter as an educator, teaching my Lucid Retention Framework, a program designed to help hairstylists build client loyalty and consistent income through systems, strategy, and structure.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that shaped me most is the one I had with my grandmother. She raised me to be respectful, hardworking, and a positive example to others. From a young age, she had me active in the community, whether it was local drill and dance teams or early jobs within the City of Trenton, and through that, she taught me discipline, teamwork, and pride in where I come from.

She’s the reason I carry myself the way I do today. Her influence molded me into a woman who not only works hard but also strives to make a difference in her community and inspire others to do the same.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I stopped hiding my pain when I realized it was the very thing that gave me power. Truth is, strength isn’t about pretending everything’s fine. It’s about choosing to keep going, even when it’s not.

Once I started seeing my pain as purpose, everything changed. Every setback became a lesson, every season of doubt built discipline, and every obstacle reminded me that I was built for this. My pain didn’t break me, it built me.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, the public version of me is the real me. That’s what Life of Lucid is all about. It’s me living life with intention and a clear sense of direction. I’m not putting on a front for social media or business, this is who I am every day.

What you see is what you get. I know what I want, I know where I’m headed, and I’m creating the path to make it happen, step by step, brick by brick.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
This one makes me laugh because I joke with my clients all the time about retiring, and their reaction is always the same, “Don’t play with me!” Lol

If I ever did, though, I know they’d miss more than just my installs. They’d miss the energy, the comfort, the confidentiality and the peace that comes with sitting in my chair. I take care of my clients beyond the hair.. I make sure they feel seen, cared for, and confident when they leave.

It’s bigger than beauty for us. My clients always say the experience is unmatched and honestly, that’s what I’m most proud of.
