Meet Russell Wyche

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Russell Wyche. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Russell, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?

My optimism comes from experience — from knowing what it feels like to be at the bottom and realizing that even then, the story isn’t over. Working in film production, I’ve learned that no matter how well you plan, something always goes wrong — a location falls through, talent drops out, or the funding hits a wall. Early in my career, those moments used to pose a challenge. But over time, I started to see a pattern: every setback either redirected me toward something better or revealed how much I could handle.

That perspective shifted everything. I stopped seeing obstacles as roadblocks and started seeing them as part of the creative process — both in business and in life. My optimism is built on faith, perseverance, and the understanding that nothing is wasted, not even failure. Every experience teaches you something valuable if you’re willing to pay attention.

So when things get tough, I remind myself: this might be the scene before the breakthrough. That mindset keeps me focused, creative, and grateful no matter what I’m facing.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m Russell Wyche — a film producer, entrepreneur, and partner at Mann Robinson Studios. I’ve produced feature films like Super Turnt, On Ten, Sebastian, Broad Day, and I’m passionate about telling stories that feel real — stories that reflect the struggles, ambition, and redemption that so many people can relate to. For me, filmmaking isn’t just about entertainment; it’s about creating impact and showing that success often comes from persistence and purpose.

What excites me most about this work is the collaboration — bringing talented people together, from writers and directors to actors and crew, and watching an idea come to life on screen. Every project is a new puzzle, a new challenge, and that constant evolution keeps me driven.

Beyond film, I also a partner with Atlanta Film Catering, a company that feeds film and TV crews on set. It started as a side project but grew quickly because we understand production life — long days, tight schedules, and the importance of keeping your team energized and happy.

Right now, I’m focused on expanding both sides of my business — developing new film projects while scaling the catering company to serve more productions across the Southeast. I’m also working to build my personal brand @coolboyproduction on social media, giving people a real look into the life of a producer — the highs, the challenges, and the behind-the-scenes hustle that people don’t always see.

At the end of the day, everything I do ties back to one goal: inspiring others to bet on themselves, even when the odds don’t look perfect. Because that’s where the real story begins.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the three qualities that have made the biggest impact on my journey are resilience, relationship-building, and vision.

Resilience has been key because nothing in film or business goes according to plan. You’ll face setbacks, missed opportunities, and moments that test how bad you really want it. I’ve learned to take those hits, adjust, and keep pushing forward. My advice to anyone starting out is simple — don’t let “no” stop you. Every rejection is just redirection.

Relationship-building is another major factor. This industry, like most, runs on connections and trust. I treat every collaboration — from actors to assistants — with respect and gratitude. People remember how you make them feel, and that energy always comes back around. If you want to grow, focus on building real relationships, not just contacts.

Lastly, vision — knowing what you’re working toward even when nobody else can see it yet. There were times early on when the only person who believed in my projects was me. But staying committed to the bigger picture, even through uncertainty, is what turned ideas into films and side hustles into businesses.

My advice for developing these qualities: be patient with yourself. Keep learning, keep showing up, and stay grounded in your “why.” Once you lock in on that, everything else starts to align.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Absolutely — I’m always open to collaborating with people who bring passion, creativity, and professionalism to the table. In film and business, I’ve learned that the right team can take an idea further than you ever could alone.

Right now, I’m especially interested in connecting with writers, directors, and producers who are driven to tell meaningful, entertaining stories that connect with real audiences. I also love collaborating with brands and entrepreneurs who want to merge creativity with purpose — whether that’s through content creation, film partnerships, or behind-the-scenes storytelling.

On the catering side, I’m open to working with production coordinators, chefs, and crew members who understand the fast-paced world of film catering and want to grow with a company like Atlanta Film Catering that values quality and consistency.
