We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jasmine Wright a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine , thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
As a dynamic performer who has dabbled in all facets of the arts (acting, dancing, theatre, film, and television), there is often a sense of “why should this work out for me?” when you are auditioning for a part and sometimes that feeling lingers even after you get the part. To overcome this very common feeling of inadequacy, I simply emerged myself further into my art. I can’t remember who it was, but a famous actor once said something along the lines of “if you keep your head down, be humble, and just do the work, the recognition and the reward will eventually come.” When it came to running my children’s party business, there has always been competition with several other similar businesses. I used to compare and despair (as my acting coach always said NOT to do). However, once I focused on being the best that I could be with the means that I had, I came to realize that clients returned to my business because of my consistency and my attention to detail in my work. Because I chose to focus on quality over quantity, I was able to establish a 5-star reputation that has held up over the last decade. But the 5-star reviews are not what took me out of imposter syndrome; it was recognizing that I had built something and stuck to it for an extended period of time and I had become good at it. It took years for me to admit that I was an exceptional children’s performer, that it was okay for me to set certain prices and standards, and that I could foster other performers that could do the same thing. I have been in business for 12 years, but it wasn’t until the last 2 years that I finally realized I had something special and that I could expand my business in a bigger way and be successful. Sometimes the only way to escape imposter syndrome is to do the things that scare you.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Jasmine has worked for world-renowned themeparks and touring stage shows in various entertainment roles throughout her college years. She began her children’s character-themed party business in 2013, after doing volunteer princess visits through Birthday Dreams nonprofit organization, as well as children’s hospitals.
Upon graduating Magna Cum Laude from University of Washington class of 2015 with a BA in Dance and Minor in Music, Jasmine began working in Film, Television, Commercials, and Theatre in Seattle. This work eventually took her to Los Angeles, where she also taught dance classes to children and teens. She worked for other princess party companies at this time, but still held onto her own back home.
After working for two years in Los Angeles, Jasmine returned home to WA state where she married her husband in 2018. She continued in the Performing Arts for a little while before making a drastic decision to step into the world of Law Enforcement.
She left the arts briefly when she was hired in 2019 as a local police officer, completing the WA State Criminal Justice Training Commission’s 6-month police academy and working as an officer-in-training on the road for 5 months afterward. Ultimately, she made the difficult decision to step out of Law Enforcement after deciding that the job was not for her and that she greatly missed her artistic life. Jasmine is now a yoga instructor, actor, mother, and small business owner. She is very grateful to have retained Royale Princess Wishes throughout all of these years and truly cherishes the art of immersive performance; specifically catering to children’s beloved fairytale characters. Jasmine styles all of the character wigs and wears many hats within this dynamic form of live entertainment.
The business has remained intentionally small over the years, putting quality of performance over quantity and maintaining a 5-star reputation throughout its decade long lifespan. As of 2025, the new goal is to expand the business to include multiple performers with the intent of: 1) reaching more clientele, 2) offering more than one character per event at a time, and 3) sustaining the performance aspect of the business so that Jasmine can step away and move solely into business operation. To achieve this, Royale Princess Wishes has actively sought out qualified performers to audition, hire, and train to be on the team. The business is also making a larger effort to secure more community events that will allow for further exposure and networking.
Royale Princess Wishes strives to bring quality entertainment to children’s birthday parties and events; protecting the element of childhood magic through means of dedicated character integrity and enthusiastic immersive performance.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. Discipline. Growing up, I always desired to be a professional performer and it was always work before play with me; even as a young girl in school. I did not procrastinate on things; I got things done that I didn’t feel like doing because I knew the longer I waited, the more I wouldn’t want to do them. This mentality starts very young with your homework in school. Don’t wait to complete things; do them early. Because when you get into the competitive adult world, there is always going to be someone in your industry who is already ahead doing something that you could be doing. So just get to it and don’t sit on things.
2. Organization. Have a calendar. I love my good old paper calendar that I mark up with a pen, but if digital is your thing, that’s fine too! Just get into the habit of keep good track of your schedule.
3. Public Speaking and Writing Skills. Sometimes your first impression with someone is through a written email. You need to have good grammar/spelling and know how to phrase paragraphs well. Know how to vouch for yourself in a way that is authentic and confident, but not arrogant (it’s a fine line). Practice how you present or “pitch” yourself to people both in written format and spoken; whether you’re looking for a job, auditioning for a role, or even just seeking a volunteer position. Learn to speak clearly and with good volume. Most of my work in my children’s party business is written communication (with clients who inquire through the website) and public speaking (or performing for children). These sound like such basic skills, but they really are essential in almost every single line of work.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
I have been blessed with extremely supportive parents and I know that not everyone has this so I do know it is a luxury. They supported and encouraged my artistic hobbies growing up; they financially supported me in college. However, I have to say the most impactful thing my parents did for me was give me faith. They shared God with me as I grew up and that has stayed with me into my adult years. Life will knock you down and it will be unfair and there will be times where you feel like no one is on your side. But those are the times in my life where God has revealed Himself in the most profound ways and the power of prayer has always picked me up off the floor and set me back on my path again. So I thank my parents for bringing faith to my life because it has also brought with it resiliency, groundedness, and an undying hope no matter what happens.
