Meet Kathryn DeClaire

We recently connected with Kathryn DeClaire and have shared our conversation below.

Kathryn , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

My purpose was something that I wrestled with throughout my teenage and early adult years. Trying to find my purpose within but fulfilling my purpose did not come until it was met with helping others. Getting out of my own mental loops and feeling sorry for myself, I started my own work within but looked outward to see how I could help others. Throughout my own healing journey, I recognized that if someone had poured into my life at 14 years old, it would have changed the trajectory of my life. Now I recognize my purpose is being there for the now 14 year olds and pouring into their life…supporting and helping them. Showing them that they are seen and they have value. What more purpose giving is that!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My focus and passion is helping others, especially those of teenage years. I love watching people have their “ah ha” moment and recognize where they still need improvement in their life and where they feel like they have healed from a chapter in their life.
I’ve also had the privilege of working with my husband, Scott DeClaire Jr, and help him bring his dreams to life as an aspiring musician.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Find a community! Find people who support you and will encourage you and spur you on.
Work on your yourself. Go through the process in finding you who are and go heal the past stuff so you can blossom and flourish.
Have fun! Life is too short! Forgive and forget! Live life to the fullest.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

They showed up. To every game, to every concert, to every performance, to every field trip. They always showed up. Knowing they were always there and they always showed up, showed me that I can always count on them. Any parents out there, show up for your kids, be there, be present, put down the phone and show up. Thank you mom and dad for always showing up.
