Meet Raisa Zarin

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Raisa Zarin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Raisa below.

Hi Raisa, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

I developed my work ethic from a young age. I started working at 16 because I didn’t want to rely on financial support from my family. Over time, as my home environment became increasingly toxic and my mom essentially became a single parent, I had to step up as the main provider for my household. That responsibility, combined with the drive to build a better future for us, pushed me to keep going. My love for learning and constantly improving my skills has helped me advance in both my corporate career and my content creation journey, fueling my determination to grow and succeed despite the challenges.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a licensed aesthetician and makeup artist who focuses on creating glam that enhances your natural beauty while still allowing you to feel authentically yourself. I also love exploring the artistic side of makeup through bold, abstract looks that push creative boundaries. My sessions go beyond application — I make it a point to educate my clients about their skin, products, and techniques so they leave not only feeling beautiful but empowered with new knowledge and confidence. Alongside my beauty career, I’m a dance instructor for Jashan & Co., a South Asian dance company dedicated to building confidence, leadership, and community among young South Asian women. Through dance, we create a safe, supportive space where girls can reconnect with their roots, express themselves, and grow both personally and artistically. My purpose across all that I do — whether in beauty, dance, or my 9–5 career — is to show that passion and creativity can thrive no matter your circumstances. You don’t have to give up your dreams just because life gets busy; it’s all about making space for what fuels your soul.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three qualities that were most impactful in my journey are organization, time management, and adaptability — all of which I developed through my corporate career. Those skills became incredibly valuable in my content and creative work, helping me stay on top of deadlines, manage multiple projects at once, and maintain structure even in a fast-paced, self-driven environment. My biggest advice for those early in their journey is to seek hands-on experience, no matter the field. Working for someone else first teaches you discipline, accountability, and the importance of structure — lessons that become the foundation for success when you eventually work for yourself.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed, and I’ll admit that I experience it often. My best advice is to remind yourself that it’s okay to pause — to take a second to breathe and step away when things start to feel too heavy. In today’s fast-paced world, it’s so easy to get swept up in constant work and productivity, but it’s important to remember that true quality and creativity only shine when you’re mentally and emotionally okay. Taking breaks isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s what allows you to come back stronger, more focused, and ready to give your best.
